Hey so I have seeds and Google doesn't show opium laws in my state. I'm just not sure I want to consume. I just think its a dark bad path, why cant my beautiful flowers be a girl, can i have both? Heh.. Been telling people I live with I have seeds. Idk.. kratom wasn't euphoric in the least and did not make me more sociable I'm on dopamine blockers.

My hobbys are music, games & ethnobotany. You know what I don't know why I feel so bland today don't think someone gave me the wrong med today, a new person moved in today I suspect may be a recovering addict why I have that feeling like feeling like so pointless idk.. what meds she takes. Any thoughts on this? Feelings like my life doesn't matter

I'm in zone 9, started my somniferum first week of January. What kind of seed are you starting? Mine were from a member here and were labeled 'Afghan Blue'.

Afghan Blue are also what I have, I think. I've got the hill that's already partly teir'd out and I wasn't sure what kind of amendments I need to do to help them grow. Seems everything I read is that as long as it drains well and isn't pure clay they will grow well. The soil on the hill is dug out of a mountain side and is red clay mixed with natural forest floor, I'm not sure if that's a good enough description. I was just going to put down some random soils, till it in and sow on top making sure the area drains well.
Black kow, mulch, peat, that sort of stuff, as needed until the soil is a little fluffier.
I don't have a green thumb so any pointers would help.
I've heard people say adding lime to clay soils helps, is that true? if so why?

it works by raising the ph and takes a long time but it reacts with acidic soils to break up the clay. id you make enough compost and use no till methods you dont need it. charcoal is better. have a bonfire on the spot before you turn the soil. get in the habit of pissing around there. til in wood chips, crushed egg shells and crab/clam shells, chicken shit and perlite. get some chickens and a shit load of cortinux quail and let them do all the work for you. mulch with grass clippings, pull weeds before they go to seed and throw them in a barrel of water, use that to water.

Very good. All that stuff is basically what I was going to do minus the livestock. I've had chickens before and I'm not a fan. Spend time and money on them only for one day a predator figures it out and 1 by 1 they start disappearing.
But yea all the organics and decomposition for building the soil up.
Can ash be spread over the area after they've been sown or spread? I already went out there and spread the seeds after you told me you got yours going.

The leaves do not contain any opium, you’ll only get usable quantities from the pods, upper portions of the stalk and sometimes further down the main stalk. Although there are active alkaloids throughout the plant, the amounts found in the leaves and roots are negligible.

Bought some seeds last July and tested them for viability. This one survived. Lived in the workshop through the winter, temperatures down to the high 30f, 2-3c. I have a bud.

Just wanted to get in on this thread. I'm planning on starting a grow at some point.

Couldn't get anything to germinate outside so I did some on paper towels. Some popped so I transferred to shallow shoeboxes with peat/perlite/sifted compost and moistened but not saturated soil.

wow that is so early, are you sure you are in the motherland? must have a nice greenhouse
6 total survivors, unlabeled, 2 in the ground, 4 in pots (all self seeded and sprouted last sep-oct) the 2 in the ground are going to get quite large
all the other garbage in there survived too looks like california kinda. maple favas onions spruce kale celery poplar amaranth cali poppy

the window for seeding is nearly sealed. they are so picky sometimes
they are happy right now though. perfectly sustained germination conditions this year and there is hope for all those how many souls flung with intent apalm thy sacred wood chips will they share their secrets in public in the gardens and libraries (on camera?) on microphone hey seeree the many shall be desecrated with expensive poisons no doubt and left to die of cancer in the wasted place or trodden down ........ down to the eager worms, and they are chanting but it isnt worth reading they are burning on the inside

Good to hear! Can’t wait to see those blooms.
I’ve decided to sow some seeds a few days ago. Though it should be a while before any sprout. They should need the winter frost cycle to germinate come spring.
