So far I have a batch of gummy's from 2 weeks ago, no mold yet so cooking definitely has worked. Thanks all!

Can I leave out honey or the corn syrup or does that need to be included

I've got a freezer full of chocolate bars and they don't travel very well. Not to mention when I do travel with them a vacuum packed chocolate bar in plain foil is a little suspect. These look perfect.
Is there any way to calculate what each bear would contain? Ex: 100g dried fruit, boiled and reduced to 1c tea and distributed evenly through 100 bears. Would that equal 1g per bear? Or would I need to know the volume of each bear in order to calculate dosage?
I'm hoping to make a few batches of these for a couple of trips I have coming up soon!

I just made a 'virgin', half batch of this so I could get volume data to run some calculations so I can better dosage estimates of individual bears (I'm actually doing gummy cacti because I conveniently had a bunch of silicone ice cube trays on hand that will work perfectly).
For anyone who's curious, a half batch came out to be damn near exactly 8 fluid ounces (236ml) *after* scraping the foam off, made with (what will be) 100ml of tea, which conveniently works out perfectly to 25 cacti. **I haven't yet calculated the waste (what gets stuck to pans, measuring cups, etc) but it wasn't as much as I expected it to be so I'm guessing it will only be equivalent to a single dose.**
I'm planning to make each cactus equal to 1.5g of PE. I'll take 37.5g (25 x 1.5) of PE, crunch up into 2 quarts of water, boil and reduce down to 100ml strained tea and proceed as normal.
I'll report back as soon as I take the real deal cacti for a spin. Thanks for such an awesome and thorough write-up!

No update on potency yet I just wanted to let anyone curious about this recipe that these are legit gummies. Identical texture to gummy bears/worms and they really are not hard at all to make! I'm amazed how good my 'virgin' batch came out. Can't wait to run some seriously powerful tea through them!

I ended up making a batch using regular cubes, not PE like I planned on, because I found a vacuum sealed bag that broke its seal so I wanted to use them up incase of any potency loss and because I have never made tea before so I didn't want to waste a fat bag of PE incase I messed it up. I used 29g to make a tea, reduced it down to 100ml and followed the (half) recipe intending to make my cacti 1g each.
I finally tried one last night and it seems much weaker than the 1g chocolates I made from the same batch of fruits which leads me to believe that there was either some potency loss from the broken seal, I got a poor extraction in my tea, there was more waste (foam, what got stuck to the spoons/pots/measuring cups, etc) than I thought or a combination of the above options.
There were zero visuals but a comforting body roll that had me grinning for about an hour lol. Quick come-up, clean high and quick come-down. I'm guessing these gummies ended up being .5g each. I'm going to put these in a jar and see how they are in several months.
Next time I will crank them up like I originally planned because once these are dialed in this will be an awesome way to eat mush without any of the stomach issues or foul taste.
All in all, this is an awesome recipe!

I just found 4oz of some of my first, very crappy mushrooms that I need to do something with to make some room. It's either compost pile, burn barrel or try and make each of my gummy cacti about 1/8 I gotta go find my french press now...
On a side note I've got a couple nerdy ass vegan/gluten free neighbors that want some electric gummies but won't eat gelatin so I might try this with agar. Any ideas how much I should use? Is there any reason using agar instead of gelatin would effect the shelf life?

Man there's an extremely fine line between too hard and too soft with agar. Let me know if you find the sweet spot though. Wouldn't hurt to run a few tests before making a whole batch

Im gunna run a few test batches but ive got a lot of mush that needs something done with it and a lot more fresh mush coming so. Someone mentioned making these a quarter each i need that recipe lol!

If you do that just make sure you keep track of your end volume its really easy to make them way to strong/week. I also like molds that hold a specific volume so its easier to track the concentration, the purple ones hold 1foz so 1c is 8floz making each gummie 3.5g.
Nevermind i understand and answered my own question.

lol yeah I was trying to figure out what the question even was for a minute...
make your test run to see how many bears/gummy objects you can make in one batch, multiply each bear/object by 7 to find out how much mush to cook into a tea (which you should also figure out volume for the reduction as well) then make it. Easy peezy. Thanks for reminding me that I never got around to making my last batch..time to fire up the burn barrel I guess

This confused the fuck out of me lol. I was going to do something to the extent of chucking a half pound of mush into giant tea reducing it way down and taking people out with 1 gummy (Once i did it scaled down a few times i guess). All the math would be cool to understand exactly how much im getting a unit but pm me if you dont mind lol. In the process of looking for good molds for these killer gummies
