Lowes reducing kobalt tools 1

I like shopping at lowes mostly due to military discount of 10%.
I mostly have kobalt tools as they are decent quality and not overpriced. Dewalt seems to be cutting corners and reducing quality while maintaining price.
I'm looking at slowly switching brands as tools fail.
I'm currently on the market for a table saw, miter saw and a wet tile saw. I'm going to retile 3 of my bathrooms sooner or later.
Recommendations of some tools would be great. I was looking at the Dewalt shadow cut miter saw. It is basically 200 bucks more than their 399 miter saw. If you really wanted to you can order all the parts for like 75 bucks and add in the leds for the shadow guide.

If it were me I'd buy the cheaper miter saw and throw that extra cash into the best table saw you can get, especially if the difference comes down to bells and whistles like lights and shadow guides and such. But ya know that all depends on what kind of work you do and what kind of work you like to do.

Home Depot does the military discount too which can give you a couple different brands to look at. Ive always been a DeWalt whore but have noticed some decline in longevity in some of my harder used tools. I have replaced Dewalt with a few Milwaukee tools lately and have been impressed so far but no hard use with them yet.

I'm so over big box stores. Everything they sell is shit and breaks. It's all crap. I go to local places, the internet, wholesalers, and honestly especially for farming/irrigation weed adjacent grow shops are a good place to go. I'd much rather spend like 25% extra to not have to buy an identical part/tool within a year. Between the costs and the time wasted driving to and from the store, its' just not worth it. I'm not rich enough to buy cheap. If I were you, I'd reevaluate if not having to pay sales tax is really worth having to deal with repeat purchases and frankly a fucking annoying experience of having to go to Lowes/Home Depot.

I live in a military town. All the hardware stores and auto parts stores offer the 10% military discount.
I’ve noticed a number of higher end brands cutting corners but retaining their prices. But I guess it’s to be expected. I have a compound miter saw from Dewalt. Haven’t had any issues with it over the year since I’ve had it. Although I kind of wish it had a laser but maybe that’s something I can add later.
When I did some tile work recently I rented a couple tile saws from Home Depot. The mk-880 was nice to work with. Funny, the last time I rented that one the alignment was way off, the cutting table had a gouge in it and the original guide, which had obviously gone missing, was replaced with a generic one that wouldn’t stay in place. But it was a good saw when it was in good condition. I also rented a mini saw, the kind where you manually push the tile to cut your pieces. Apparently I don’t have a steady hand and was getting chips and uneven cuts.
I also have a rear handle dual battery makita that I really like. I know you weren’t asking about those but I thought I’d throw it in there.
