The Dancing Wu Li Masters
    #2740126 - 05/28/04 02:31 AM (12 years, 6 months ago)

Quote:

Gary Zukav as written "the bible" for those who are curious about the mind-reeling discoveries of advanced physics, but who have no scientific backround. Like an Eastern Wu Li Master who would teach us wonder for the falling petal before speaking of gravity, Zukav writes in beautifully cleart language-with no mathmatical equations-opening our minds to the awsome new theories that are beginning to embrace the ultimate nature of our universe......Quantum mechanics, relativity, and beyond to the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen effect and bell's theorem.

Thats from the back of the book in front of me  , its an older one(1979) but books like this , are what I love to read.
(Science with philosophy, which are REALLY the SAME)

Has anyone here read "The danncing Wu Li Masters"???? I have only flipped through and had a good friend tell me a about some of the cooler stuff.

Here are some of my favorite books that I have read......(anyone read these??).....................

BEYOND THE QUANTUM ... 1986

Mysticism and the New Physics

Zen Mind ,Beginners Mind

(I also would have to say th"Story of Philosophy" is great, its just not along the same lines as these other books.)

Here are some books I REALLY want to get......

The Physics of Consciousness: The Quantum Mind and the Meaning of Life

"His quantum-mechanical approach to synaptic transmission and "the speed of consciousness" are difficult to evaluate and seem a bit overstretched, but his discussions of the history and current events of physics are lucid and ironically lend weight to his antimaterialistic arguments. Is this, as he hopes, another step toward 21st-century religion, or just another New Age reinterpretation of the spooky world of the ultrasmall? Don't bet on either--The Physics of Consciousness will jog your brain in new ways and, if nothing else, you'll find a new appreciation for how little we really know about ourselves. --Rob Lightner --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title."

The Self-Aware Universe: How Consciousness Creates the Material World

God at the Speed of Light
Expertly referenced and well researched book, August 23, 2003
Reviewer: A reader from Southeastern United States
"God at the Speed of Light" is an expertly referenced and well-researched book (over 50 scientific references cited) that methodically establishes the existence of a designing intelligence in the universe. Dr. Baumann's premise is convincingly detailed and defended by scientific fact.
The intelligence of physical light is featured through the descriptions of experiments in quantum physics. These complex experiments are described in easily understood layman terms. The implications of these experiments reveal why physicists are one of the most spiritual of all groups of scientists.
Likewise, astronomical and cosmological data unveil multiple unmistakable arguments for design in our universe.
From the field of medicine, physician Baumann lists documented excerpts from the accounts of various near-death victims, as well as the medical literature, asserting successfully the intimate link between God and the welcoming light of the near-death experience. Similarly, the knowledge that is often imparted by this "Light" correlates well to the intelligence exhibited in the above physics experiments!
Lastly, Darwin's theory of evolution (a problem for many spiritual people) is scientifically shown to be inconsistent with the documented geologic findings of the fossil record."

Intellegent design will evntually be known as the "creative force" behind the universe, not Darwinism or Creationism (IMO)

(I would also like to get Darwins Black Box, and Darwin on Trail.)

Anyway, has anyone here read any of these books? , what did you think??????

Haven't read that one, but did read "Seat of the Soul" by the same author. As you may imagine I have BIG problems with this one. He firmly states many spiritual "truths" about our soul with ever once saying how this "knowledge" came to him. This is not worthy of any scientist.

If you are interested in the connection between mysticism and physics I highly recommend the book "Quantum Questions." It is an assemblage of the actual writings of several of the great quantum physicists -- Schroedinger, Heisenberg, Einstein, Planck, Pauli, a few others -- as they discuss the relationship between the two. Turns out all of these men believed to some degree in spiritual truths but none of them believed that physics in any form offered proof for those views. The introduction by Ken Wilber is an excellent analysis of the claims of authors such as Zukav, and his conclusion is that they are unsound and unsubstantiated. Great reading.

As an aside, I agree 100% with Swami about "The Seat of the Soul" -- one of the biggest loads of pointless new age crap I have ever had the displeasure of wasting my time with. Dancing Wu Li Masters is a better read, but in the end it was not really worth my time either.
