Is that a LC? Yes, it looks like contamination. Myshroom mycelia tend to grow into large spheres/blobs unless broken up. I don't think they grow into smokey whispy shapes.

Fae = fresh air exchange. So if you have 2 layers of micropore tape on your holes of the tub try using just 1 layer. Or crack the lid a bit. Congrats on being new and getting yourself some mushrooms!

So I’m wondering what the brown stuff is on the stipe toward the bottom of this guy? I’m assuming he’s fine to dry and keep but please correct me if I’m wrong.
Edited to add: it seems like a whole tub has this going on and I don’t know why. It didn’t look contaminated. Furthermore, the stipe feels hollow/empty, less dense than usual. It was actually my best pin set but now it seems like the mushrooms aren’t developing the way they should. Any assistance would be appreciated, basically just wondering if I should toss this batch.

I've had the same thing. People usually say it's verticillium, but I think there's debate about that.

Samesies. I’ve had plenty of tubs do just that.. they start out looking ok and then just Peter out at a certain stage. Ppl have told me it’s vert as well but others say it’s something else.. either way it’s an infection if some kind
Most recent tub to do that:
Another one in the later stage of decline

pseudonomas is another thing I've heard them called. Like faht said... either way it’s an infection of some kind. Sucks to get and I'm not sure of any way to fix it once you've got it besides growing more haha

If it is pseudonomas, I've read the warning that its spores stick to everything and the tub should be isolated from others, then bleached afterwards. Not sure how true that is, but it seems like a reasonable precaution.

Hey GPS,
Any tips how to get Penis Envy to pin before contam' starts? B+ next to this one are doing well. This one has had perfect surface conditions for 5 days and zilch! Just ditched it. Another exactly like it not contaminated. Please advise.

Your goal should be to get it to not contam rather than getting it to pin faster. Say you got it to pin... what then? You'd have mold getting rather bad at the same time as your first flush.
To that end, you can experiment with various spawn prep techniques, spawn inoculation techniques, jar lids/mods, spawn bulk ratios, tub sizes... eventually you can hunt for strains that fight contam better by only cloning or taking prints from tubs that don't look like they are on the way to contamination. But that should happen automatically rather than being a special type of cultivation: print/clone the best specimens.

Hey everyone.
I think this is probably just bruising, but as a first time grower (and user) I just want to make absolutely sure I'm not looking at contamination here:
What do you reckon? Thanks!

KillerTruck: Yep bruising. Congrats on your first fruits! and welcome!
Here's some of my pics of when I had verticillium/ pseudonomas/ whatever it actually is. I've noticed lots of mutants in my tubs that are infected with this. Anyone else get mutants from stuff like this? It may affect yields as well. As far as safety to humans, I'm not sure. I've eaten many fruits with this infection I can't say I recommend it since WHO KNOWS!? But I'm fine.
If you have fuzzy feets like I did, you'll have to peel it back to see the infection.

Can anyone tell me what I’m working with here. I had some trich on a couple WBS jars recently but this doesn’t really look the same. I’m new to this and I’ve looked at all the contam guides but so many things look the same. I’ve had some success but I keep having these shoeboxes fruit before I think they should be. I know that’s a sign of contaminants.
