What type of tubs are you running? I'm curious about how much FAE you're fruits like this (leggy) are getting.
From everything i'm seeing i've gathered that natalensis thrive with a lot of FAE and a good, high output light source.
In the sun, they take on a much different appearance - very robust and golden as opposed to silver-white and leggy.

My intuition tells me that proper light, air and certain (specific) microbes will make all the difference in the phenotypic expression.

The overlay with natalensis is proving to affect yields heavily so far

Apparently you can just rip it off and go for it. I haven’t tried that surprisingly but it’s working for other people

Planning to run a few experiments with these plates as soon as they grow out a bit. These were invitro agar plate pins...

Treating these the same as cubes. They are in dub tubs with average fae. First flush was very obviously reaching for air; the canopies basically parted in half seeking the holes at the ends of the top. Light is semi indirect from a daylight flourescent.

I'm planning on building a pan chamber/automated mono and will try them in that to see how they do with more fae.

been following this thread for a good little while. at last, something to contribute.

project began some months ago with a print from our man zif, marked natal super strength.
each of two cultures came from plate pins. marked a and b.
both colonized lc, then to two jars of oats, quickerenshit. one jar from b didn't make it. dropped the fuckin lid.

spawned 0628. one jar to 1kg sterile coir. cased with peat and lime a little late. put to fruit a little late. came to harvest a little late.

both a boxes turned nasty. one still fruited from the side a bit. could be the lc was fucked. will go back to test it on agar later.

the remaining b box did pretty well. expecting over a zo from the first flush.

am not a fan of cubes for a multitude of reasons. these look and smell like cubes to me, except the color in the caps looks like many of the tamps ive known. also, note all the veils. thought i read about natalensis ain't supposed to have veils. these seem to bruise green.

will dose soon. hope it wont be a cubic experience.

It's time to collect mushrooms... We draw conclusions - they need a lot of fresh air during fruiting. Hats are huge compared to home ones.

These trays were ran in a high fae moderate RH chamber earlier this year

I can’t find my original comment but what I proposed is that the fruits that are spindly with small caps are missing something. If a mushroom is for reproduction then it would be far more efficient for the caps to be bigger as there is more surface area. I feel this is why outdoor grows consistently look good and lack the spaghetti fruits

They really don't have enough fresh air at home.Thin mushroom snakes of Natalensis are more likely from an excess of CO2.

I want to eventually try to grow them in my greenhouse for panaeoluses-there is a compressor and good air exchange there.

This one sat in the dish for a while after I put a slab to grain and grabbed an early pin... It's crazy this invitro pin dropped spores on my agar.

Just chopped down another tub. This one was lifting the top off my dubtub. Definitely the heaviest spore drop so far; made a mess while I was at work. Sooooooo close to 50g but just can't quite get there.

was that first flush??? Those are by far the biggest we’ve seen. You should save that culture for sure.

Thanks all! The tubs of spaghetti were cool but now I'm completely hooked haha. These have beautiful proportions.

This is 3rd flush from one of the 5 spawned mid June. Started it a day later than the other 4 and its first two flushes were a little less impressive than the others so I failed to document it well. It's one of the non-overlay strains. Saving it for sure!

I want to run a trial with less spawn now. Maybe a smaller pinset and larger, better developed fruits on earlier flushes? These were a nearly full qt per tub; bet I could get away with like half that.

Ime the size depends on the number of fruits. A full canopy produces tons of smaller fruits. A smaller pin set = bigger fruits.

This is my experience as well. Does it make sense that lower spawnrate would produce fewer pins and thus larger fruits? Of course I imagine there would be some limit below which size would begin to suffer. I haven't really played around with spawnrate much.

I don't know... But I don't think so. You could just pull out some/half of the pins. But I'm pretty sure that if you do a side by side I'll get very close results from them in terms of weight. Lots of small fruits vs few and big fruits but the BE would be roughly the same.
That's just my opinion anyways...
