Liter for Liter, which substrate is cheaper? Is it worth the extra work?

For all the straw users out there, which substrate is cheaper? Coir or Straw? I have a feeling it is straw, but is it worth the work? Does anybody have numbers on how much straw costs per liter?

Straw is way cheaper, A $6 2 string bale probably makes like 6-7 cubic feet of substrate. So what's that like 3 cents a liter?

:whathesaid: I can't get myself to pasteurize straw, dealing with the mess, chopping it up alone is almost to much for me,
I use it in sterilized substrates every now and then like bottle grows and such. Coir is so much more convenient that I don't
mind the extra cost especially if I only run a few tubs. Crack a couple of bricks and pour some hot water on....done.
That's like 1 minute vs. 1.5 hrs and I have lots of other things to do in a day. Ease of use is worth a pretty penny IMO.
