Curing and aging Nicotiana rustica questions

So I've recently begun working with a Cree elder who I obviously gifted my finest three year old tobacco leaves, problem is I actually know very little about curing and aging N. rustica and did my first attempt at it by air drying before allowing them to soak in a small amount of honeyed water for about 15 minutes to rehydrate then rolling them into 'cigars' misting occasionally. To keep slightly moist, originally I had only been using them as offerings before foraging or using resources however now that I am gifting them to people I would like to know more about the proper methods I could use to prepare it, knowing I plan full well to test each batch on myself mixed with the inner bark of dogwood and kinnikinnick leaves for quality and nicotine levels. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Take my word on it, rustica is hard core. Like 1 drag and throwing up for 15 minutes from someone who smokes 1 pack a day. Your better off shredding it up for pipe smoke. Traditional use of rustica was used by Incans to trip balls by snorting, smoking, or burning a sap like extract into their skins.
As for curing I used spear mint whole plant in the heat chamber to add flavor but aside from using formaldehyde you just need to keep the right humidity and heat in your curing chamber.
Again with how potent it is typically people don't get more than one hit before loosing it and at that point a smooth hit isn't the biggest problem.

So effectively humidity control after curing. The smoothness isn't key and for smoking I would be mixing with kinnickinik and dogwood inner bark which results in a much smoother and quite tempered smoke, quite nice on it's own actually.

Curing is about humidity and temperature, you will have to build essanially drying racks. With some hood over it to control air flow, but you don't want it air stagnant. Then the humidity / time spent curing will give you different tobacco for different uses, weather its shredded or rolling leaves. I haven't cured in 4 years but you can find the information in a couple google searches. I don't remember exactly the time, conditions, and humidity ratios though I remember drier and long runs for chopped up leave and short but slightly humid for wraps. But the numbers are key, don't want to grow any mold.

First one is possibly Jerusalem artichoke, second looks like some Nicotiana species, final picture I'm not sure location would definitely help with ID.

Awesome I see quite a few now that they're pointed out, the first two I thought looked like a Datura but that would be too easy an answer. I live in the boreal area of Canada, not too far off the shield so I don't know a few of the plants in the wilds further south but assuming you mean the solanaceous horse nettle. I know the hardy plants that tolerate temps below -40C. Definitely thought I saw something that looked like a lamiaceae which we do have wild spearmint here but was quite honestly looking at the largest plants thinking of an ID request.

tobako is an incredible plant, it wants to tell 15,000 stories in one breath somebody threw out the batch of rustica that was curing and in an other story welcome to snake path, if you want to come in you must remove your footwear. you should bring gifts to the apothecaries who are prone to slay you at the ankles at any given moment, and a staff and make yourself known along the path, this being a well guarded temple and a medicine house where few are welcome or dare step barefoot over the grave

Buzz? I've legit gotten sick from handling too much. Then again I never use nicotine so that might not help.

yeah i imagine with no tolerance that would be easy to do. its kinda hard to gauge the dosage. would advise gloves and much caution. cut the flower stalks to dry and been picking through the seed pods which makes my hands all sticky and can start to feel a nicotine sensation like 10-20 mins later every time i quite enjoy the sensation. i poisoned myself with some flowering tobaccos and columbine a few weeks ago that was kind of scary got really sick did not enjoy that at all thought i was tripping for a few hours
