Bought this DVD 15 or so years ago and it struck a chord in me. I once worked 16 jobs in one year and and filed with all those at a IRS place in my nearby city. She just looked at them all and said with a smirk, looks like you have been a busy boy.
Get why this movie still has meaning today. Everyone grubbing from the Ghost endless gold coins that transform and it gets to the level of dumb beasts calling themselves human. Chasing after nothing of worth. And one can go on and is amazing what people will do for it, let alone jobs. Fools Gold. Great movie. Reminded of it today.

Yah, it can suck the life right out of a person.
I am ending a job that was 10/90 work life balance, and will be entering a job that is probably closer to 60/40 work/life. More money as that usually come with the territory, but I would rather keep the 10/90 lifestyle. Cest la vie

That is what I miss about people. The divide of rich and poor and just the simplicity of living in a community of non greedy people. I know communes, they suck. And not going to be tied down financially to a house. My apartment is fine and nice and I have all the best electronics. Still not paying over a grand on a PS5.
Point being. Paying rent and a month with a tent and hiking at least 12 miles a day, everything is burning and the smoke makes it difficult, and the old ways of being born, school, college, getting married and buying a house are done. Watching a news video and very few except the Baby Boomers own houses anymore. Everything is rented. Is a waste of time and holy shit have I wasted a lot of it just sitting at a desk and computer 8-5 with a job I despised.
Not doing it anymore. Am fine financially. Lost my Smartphone two weeks ago and it is nice not having right next to what I am typing on right now.
And yes keeping my apartment and some people choose to go on massive vacations. For me, hiking and camping and some of the most remarkable experiences I have had so far in life. Done the girlfriends, night clubs, strip clubs, and visited about every major city in the States. Really I only feel alive in nature but am glad to pay rent, as I am fortunate in that regard at least at this time and live in a tent and hike where only animals are and are surprised to see a human. Is a rush.
Double vaxxed and have my card so on with it. Lazyness seeps in and takes some willpower to get over, like three days but just saw a show of a woman cleaning up from heroin. Not that I am into that but loved the will of that character and her teacher that said, "after your loss, you turned into a prostitute and junkie, what a clich'e. Yeah, grief and I just chose alcohol for awhile with my father's death. Yet, it pass, and no, I didn't turn to prostitution and in my circles have never known anyone that did.
I think the whole world needs a vacation. Been awhile. Just don't go to India, lol. That is the strange thing about grief. It seems like it will never pass and holy shit the way it happened that hurt deeply. Yet trust in time, it heals.
Is amusing. I put a large crystal by my fish with a tea light that gives a great glow to it. And they are mesmerized by it. Kind of look at a lot of humanity the same way and the idea of "God". Have had enough experiences to know personally that everything is eternal and no religion has a trademark on it. Taken enough esoterics to know if you fuck with spiritual law it will give you some hard, I mean hard, lessons.
So I got a sense of the sacred. What really is and is in everyone. Universal laws I respect. The corrupted and ignorant ones created by people I don't. Yet, jail sucks so the dude abides.

My father was a workaholic who spent more time at his job than he did with his family and over the years it made him a miserable person, I vowed I would never become like him ever in my lifetime. Also Spirited Away is a killer movie.
