Lol, I *just* removed "Views" and "Replies" to try to fit more threads on the screen and reduce scrolling. But, let's try with "Replies" but without "Views", and see if that's the sweet spot.

This fixed most if not all of the issues that browsing on mobile Safari had.
The only real issue I have is that the top navigation is really busy. Everything from Forum Index to Growery could be removed and it would really clean up the browsing experience. Maybe leave vendors and the store?

What I've noticed about the new layout when forcing desktop mode is the layout looks nice and clean and I enjoy the zoom functionality.
If I disable the enhanced layout the forum requires too much scrolling.

As my microsoft surface is aging (battery phhhtt, keyboard smelly, wifi radio intermittent) I have gone for the cheapest option - an Amazon Fire tablet with a keyboard and mouse, and Developer options adjusted to enable google play for non-amazon apps.
It's like shifting from a Caddilac to a three wheeler. but it gets me where I need to go,.
the Shroomery Mobile version works ok on it but I shift to desktop site because it is easier to highlight text and continue.
just another thing to accommodate, I don't like using my phone for more than wifi tethering, photography, google, directions, and what's app - sometimes it rings and I have to be human.

Yeah I've been very happy with all the surface pro products on the new widows. Shroomery is super broken in tablet mode usually tho

I think for new visitors to the site on a mobile the new way will be better/easier, but I prefer the old/desktop version..... zooming in and out, you get more information faster that way (if you already know the site well enough).

I got too frustrated with the amazon fire and am returning it
I use several apps at same time
the tablet kept closing back ground apps and then reloading when switching back on second day of use
first day I did not notice that bother.

I agree. Reply count can be accessed by changing orientation from portrait to landscape mode, for those who really want to see it. I think this idea is worth considering. "Login" and "New Account", arguably the two most important hot-links, are already shown in the welcome paragraph below the banner ad... For starters, I would advocate for removing the list of Moderators from the mobile portrait view. That information is hardly useful, takes up valuable screen real estate on smaller devices, and can be found in landscape view or elsewhere, if needed. Yeah I think some sort of overflow menu for all the navigation icons would be ideal. I messed around with that a bit when I was first getting started, but it was taking too much time so I deferred that work until the main project was complete. I'll keep experimenting and try to come up with a good solution. In the meantime I've eliminated the links you suggested, let's see if it makes things a little easier to use.
Oh and those screenshots are from desktop mode, the moderator list is already hidden in mobile portrait mode.

Yes, I can do that! The length that actually fits on one line will depend on the post time and your display settings, but does it mostly look right now?
