Couple different Amanita's

bloodycarcass, I'm pretty sure that's Amanita jacksonii on the left. Looks like lined margins to me.

https://www.mushroomexpert.com/amanita_jacksonii.html

Only seen one of those once a long time ago, but maybe they don't like it so much up north!

Could be.. but wasnt conviced in person. im not good with Amanita I.D's except the fact its an Amanita.

Edit:
The stirated margin was barely there like in the pics. Hardly visible in person. Which is why I wasnt convinced its a jacksonii.

Plus Theres tons more better edibles in GA either way im not worried about eating these

Non-toxic Amanitas tend the get the guilty by association treatment. I once took a mushroom identification class at a local junior college, many many moons ago, and the teacher got pretty upset at me and a few others who decided to cook up some Amanita vernicoccora. I was already pretty knowledgeable at that point, more than him even (mycology wasn't his specialty, just one of many classes he taught), so I didn't understand why he was freaking out. Looking back now, though, he wasn't totally comfortable identifying Amanitas and he was responsible for all of us so maybe I was being a dick.

Anyway, long story short, even seasoned mushroom hunters are scared of them, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Im very aware their are edible Amanitas. Im not good with them, so I dont take a chance.
My understanding is you need to cook them throughly to as well. So if not cooked could still be toxic. Which is why I included it.

They are so unassuming, and sometimes they look startlingly similar to psilocybe species.

Beautiful photos though!  Especially that one growing out of the log and the one with a nipple.

Interesting... good note to be very careful and always check twice.  I tend to check when I'm picking, then double check when drying, then checking a third time when jarring, and if any doubt they get thrown out.

Neat!

Thanks for sharing!

We have the pax show up in urban/suburban areas where people have planted birch.

I've been noticing more Galerina growing out by the coast.  I hit up the wendy's drive through in Warrington after a long day of picking last fall (Don't judge, we've all been there) and there was a massive flush of Galerina marginata in their landscaping.  Biggest I have ever seen.

I’ve only been to the azurescens type location twice but both times have also found Galerina near by but also both times growing from buried branches not chips.
