I have some updates regarding the adjustments I made to my FAE & moisture content of my substrate:
GROW TENT: I programed my fan timer to run 30min every 3hours. I also pulled my fogger off it's humidity controller and run it off my fan timer. Both the fans and fogger run at once now. I also put a small fan on the bottom of the tent set on low to circulate the low laying air. All of these adjustments have seemed to help with FAE, but I am still fiddling with the amount of fog / fan speed to get it just right. Tying to keep RH% in the tent at 90-92%.
SUBSTRATE: I reduced the amount of water I use in my substrate to 3L. I am seeing HUGE results in the reduction of water in my mix. I have not been cursed with any trich since I've made these adjustments. Substrate mix is as follows:
650g Coir 3L Water 400ml Verm 1/4 cup gypsum
LAST: I put one of those HEPA filters in my mushROOM as added defense against contams. I think this has also helped, I'm sure.

Thank you for your prompt response! We appreciate you. Did you use a casing layer on any of your colonized substrate? And if so what was it made with? Ex:Coco coir, verm, coffee, etc. Thank you so much.

S. Crispa, looks like you are on your way to having that tent rocking. No need to have lids on any of the tubs as long as conditions are kept ideal.
MuShroomLords, I use around 1 qt of hydrated coir that I add as a top layer at spawning. I do not use any additives. My substrate consists of coir, shredded corncob and water. I mostly use popcorn and rice for spawn.

Hi Bear,
If you need cultures, I currently have 3 jars of LC for the following species that I can send you a syringe or two from: King Trumpet Oyster, Blue Oyster, and Pioppino. Let me know if any of those species are of interest to you.
The Pioppino is from an agar plate purchased from North Spore, and the rest are from Lenny at Mycelium Emporium.

S.Crispa,
What brand of ultrasonic humidifier are you using? The one I'm currently using is a desktop model and I'm having issues with it. Yours look ideal for my current tent/setup.

Thank you for the offer. While mossy creek is a straight joke of a company, I have been able source cultures from elsewhere.
I bought my first 10 head ultrasonic mist maker from ebay for $90. I have recently stopped using ebay because they're sellers are lazy and ebay cares more about their sellers than they do for their customers. I paid a little more on amazon for my second ultrasonic but it was well worth the little extra.

You mention using a heater and also have trich issues. It’s cool as long as you keep it (outside) your tent. Heat the environment your tent sits in. Not the inside of the tent.

????? I don't use a heater and I don't have any contamination issues. Someone else mentioned in this thread that they were having trich contam issues but it wasn't me.

So I see the bags in your tubs, immediately after bulk spawning to tub, after your case layer, do you tie off the sub in a bag to build CO2? Or are the bags just for cleanup and all? I understand now no lids from the start is okay with a proper greenhouse and humidity + FAE. But maybe a lid on for CO2 build up may help? then open up after colonization? Or just leave just like that open air conditions and all.? Currently I leave my Lids Bod style upside down until full colonization, than I remove the lid. I still have FAE through the quarter inch gaps between tub and lid. But maybe no lid from the start?

Try putting your Hepa filter outside your tent and running duct inside your tent, so that the hepa pulls dry outside air and positively pressurizes your tent with it. This should stop sopping wet hepa filters as well as mold and other things from building in your air cleaning unit.

No. I use cheap trash bags to mix my spawn and substrate then use the same bag as a liner. The trash bags makes it easy to mix and easy to clean up after harvest. If your environment is dialed in correctly, you won't need to use a lid for colonization.

I am not sure what you are refering to. I don't use a hepa for my tent and my conditions are not sopping wet. I do pull the air from outside the tent and it is set up for positive pressure.

I need to do better at organizing my replies, the comment about placing the Hepa filter outside the tent was for c. Crispa. He said he placed one inside the tent... and okay, I am onboard with zero lids, now I gotta source a bunch of lil 15 quart tubs. What to do with all these 66 quarts now. Honestly gonna be so much easier not dealing with these big ass tubs. Thanks mannn. Oh and the tip about mixing in the trash bag and than just straight into the tub, so genius! Right now I’m wasting so much time cutting big ass liners to fit perfectly in my tubs. Seems cleaner your way too. Just fold the bag over the tub, no cutting of excess plastic necessary. Wow. Glad to learn from you

No worries bruddah, ima learn how to quote in here so I’m easier to follow. I have 1 more for ya tho, since you are so generous with your knowledge. How many quarts of spawn do you use per 15 quart tub? And again on your spawn to sub ratio? Oh yea and it took me an Hour to program 1 minute every 20 for my Fan , lol, programming is useful but boring as all heck.

I started off using 3 qts of spawn to 6 qts of substrate but I cut it back to 2.5 qts of spawn and 6 qts of substrate. Could be coincidence but I had better yields when I cut back on the amount of spawn I was using. So basically I went from a 1:2 ratio to a 5:12 ratio.
Getting things like the interval timer dialed in can be boring and tedious but I promise once you have that tent dialed in, it will be set and forget.

Amazing thread, just discovered it now thanks to @doubleD
I was under the impression the tent needs FAE 4 to 6 times an hour. Wouldn't it be better to leave the intake on 24/7?

Thank you.
How many FAE's per hour would really depend on the species of mushroom that you are growing in the tent. For cubensis mushrooms, 3 FAE's per hour is adequate. For some gourmet mushrooms you may need 4-8 per hour. In nature they get constant fresh air so the more you can provide, the better. The other variable is humidity. If I ran my intake 24/7 my rh would be 80% or lower. This is not high enough for growing cubensis. I have found that for growing cubensis in my tent, 3 FAE's per hour and 88-92% rh is the sweet spot to have great results. If growing some other species of mushroom, you will have to play with the conditions in order to find their sweet spot.

I guess I will have to play around with the FAE and RH and dial it in. I was thinking maybe using two Ultra-Sonic Humidifiers to combat the constant fresh air. The Ultra-Sonic Humidifiers also introduce oxygen by breaking down the water too apparently from what I've read.
PS: Is there a way to get notifications from posts?

If you can keep the rh in the right range with those 2 humidifiers while providing constant FAE, I say go for it.
