I’m definitely going to try and get some real Sativa soon. I didn’t realize how long they took to finish until recently and knowing how impatient people are I’m almost positive I’ve probably never had pure Sativa, and 100% never had some that was properly grown.
I’ve got c99 and utopia haze for next round so that should be a good intermediate grow.

People are looking more at landrace type stuff because of the genetic bottleneck happening...like Mr. Piggy just said, gorilla cookie skittles all over the place.
The effects of cannabis are a lot more than THC and terpenes. There's things like thiols, esters, ketones, flavonoids, etc., that all likely contribute to the effects of cannabis somehow. I wouldn't be surprised if there are yet undiscovered cannabinoids too in the mix out there.
When a plant takes over twice as long to mature, it has time to produce different compounds. There has to be something to that. The crazy potent sativa stuff that scares some smokers away doesn't usually have super high THC from what I've heard...but the effects are described as psychedelic by even veteran smokers.

Vapor Pressure Deficit, AFAIU it's how much your plants can evaporate, so basically a measure that takes into account temperature and humidity. It can make a world of difference. Having your plants in a room that's too damp will prevent them from evaporating moisture, which will slow down growth a whole lot since that water transports nutrients into the plant cells and makes the plant grow..

Yes hummingbird, you've hit the nail on the head.
We're not yet fully capable of understanding the magic that this plant holds, and I'm perfectly fine with that

I agree, nothing like a good dose of mystery to keep things interesting.
Also, good VPD range can make a pretty big difference. I used to think it didn't as much, but it does for sure. Some strains are a lot more sensitive with it than others I've noticed too.

Just because some mexican beaner used to piss on poorly grown plants, doesn't mean those genetics can't be done justice.

I'm into ocean grown seeds. They have some Hawaiian strains they are trying to preserve. I only have jawa pie(not one of the Hawaiian strains)but I want their new one Yoda soda. Merlot OG x jawa pie. Vader is the breeder. All their strains look really dope. Idk about the pollen chucking? I'm doing it, but I'm pheno for myself.

None of that is missing in the hybrids tho. If you take a landrace sativa like Columbian Gold and cross it with a landrace indica like Afghani, the strain isn't a "sativa" anymore but you can still find the energetic chemotype in the progeny with a better morphology and flower period. People have been looking at the landraces for a long time, it's not a new or bottomless bag of tricks. The commercial breeders are searching through thousands of specimens at a time. The idea that you'll find something undiscovered at this point is kinda foolish. The terp rush is over. That's why we're seeing so much homogeny now because the best traits have more or less been adopted.

my dad showed me a old picture of some 'amazing' stuff he used to get in the 70s.. looked like that stuff but they way he described the high youd think it was pure cocaine.
when i showed him todays bud, circa 2007 he thought it was brick weed because he never saw compact buds before.
i thought it was funny considering he thought himself to be a weed guru from the 70s but had never seen real dense bud before.
i have a hard time believing all the hype that the sativas were that much better. i just think our parents were that naive

I've got a few long running, thin leaved varietals, that are sure enough strong.90-120 days flower will build some pretty amazing profiles. The biggest thing I find with working with those kind of varietals is sometimes they'll go solid for months, then just shoot a random male branch out. They don't like much food, most want a lot of foot room (best root systems for root medicine).I have the best luck running tops or double top programs, where you pair on a solid f1 with another (landrace),then maybe up the frequency with another top but use that same landrace just a different f1 or the same f1 lines but with parallel siblings. I just started some Kwazulu x Pakistan testers.I keep running things on these Kwazulu lines and wow, good stuff.Kwazulu is short flowering though.Anyways don't give up on long season things, theyll grow wild half the time just need a small amount of love and you'll get something for your head stash your friends will flip out over.

Thanks for that! Correlates pretty well with what I know about the thin long leaved heirloom varietals.

Apparently they sprayed PCP on bud back then to make it more psychedelic

Take me down to paraquat city where you're lungs'll bleed and the weed is shitty
oh won't you please take me hoooome yeaaah yeaaah
I've had 10 out of those pics you posted, lol. I'm don't romanticize it, but I am curious about being able to compare them side by side on looks and effects etc. I wish I could do it physically. I'm also happy with current weed but I still like to grow it and keep it as natural as possible.
