    #2735616 - 05/27/04 08:34 AM (13 years, 2 months ago)

im seeing very small amounts of white starting to appear in the middle. i already patched a small amount on the sides a few days ago and just checked it now. its too late to patch whats there but should i start giving it light yet or keep it in the dark for a little longer? another thing, how often should i mist? everytime i fan?

Give it light (the mycelium will keep growing for a while and will hopefully catch up with the one in the middle) and mist only when you feel that the casing has lost its humidity , check your hygrometer, it should read 95%

GoodLuck!

Yep, good advice. Also TRS, if you're going to title your thread with *pic*, try including one. Just putting that in the title to get views is dirty. Not sure if that was your intention, if not my apologies.

i would drag some of the casing material from the center over to the sides then birth it
i dunno it dont look alot colonized if u drag some casing over to the sides and u hit white stuff not that far down then i would birth but that pic is really dark it looks like only a very small amount is colonized better off getting advice from some one else unless that back me up i would want u to screw it up cause of me

i think ill do that, it does seem to be a little higher up in the middle. heres another pic of it, taken 24 hours after the previous one. also if you click the thumbnails you can see it alot better and its not too dark to see at all

Patch those spots where it's popping up with a bit of casing material, and wait for the rest to start showing. That stuff on the top of the pic should definately be patched. I'd go ahead and start fanning now.

i took this picture just now. im kicking myself for introducing light so early because it looks like its going to take some time before the rest of it colonizes, which is probably going to result in a very uneven pinset. hopefully the second flush will be more even than what i think the first will be

Oh well, I guess you could go back and incubate a bit longer and wont get overlay too bad in the most colonized areas. Alot of areas do not look very ready for fruiting but you can only patch so much, eh.
I would mist when you see alot of the condesation on the sides of your box evaporated, everytime you fan may be too much. Remember to spray the walls not the fruits directly.

Good luck, hopefully those darker areas will get some mushrooms poking through in time with the other spots
