I became a millionaire today. 8

So about 5 minutes ago I checked my brokerage to see that I had an account value of $1,000,003.25 after a slight uptick in the market this morning.
I'm actually not here to brag about it, I'm just wanted to share a strange feeling.
I'm 32 years old and I've never inherited a dime or had anything given to me money wise so it's a bit of a personal achievement and I'm a little proud of myself.
The point I am making here is that I don't want to tell anyone. I don't feel like telling my wife...my parents...my best friend...anybody except strangers on the internet which I'm sure don't care much or won't believe me.
I don't want the people I care about to treat me differently because of it. I don't know anybody with much money. My friends and family are simple people. Although a million dollars isn't as much as it used to be...it's still a lot to me. I feel like people will either resent me for it or expect more from me.
Has anyone had a similar experience? It's a strange type of achievement to feel so awkward sharing it with anyone that I know personally.

Lol dude that is a pretty incredible achievement. I am 39 staring at about 100k in assets in total, wishing I would’ve made whatever choices got you to where you are. I think it is a big reason to Pat yourself on the shoulder, hope I join you in the 1M club one day.
Why wouldn’t you tell your wife? I get other people, and I guess all relationships are different. My wife and I have no separation of finances (aside from the this is her 401k this is mine by law or whatever). We both have access to everything, even though I feel like she would have no idea how to access my crypto cold storage if I were to suddenly die.
Not telling you to tell her, just was wondering why.

I was a millionaire for a few days back in 2017. Had some random crypto that took off. Decided to ride it out for the long term, unfortunately never recovered back to that point (if I would have pulled it and put it into BTC I'd have over 7 mil today). Still, was cool to tell people I was a millionaire.
Hindsight is 20/20.
Be smart and keep it invested, most do retire these days with over a million and live comfortably. If you keep it rolling in some smart mutual funds or equivalent, you should be in good shape by the time you are in your 50s.

True, I think at a certain point - for people who arent daytrading professionals, you just throw that big chunk into a few different investment vehicles such as mutual funds and comfortable ride 8-13% a year to retirement

Not sure that's it's picturesque, but hey I'm just barely old enough to have the bad habit of taking a "screenshot" of my computer screen with my cell phone.

Good question... and it's probably because my wife doesn't ask about money at all and doesn't seem to care so I don't really make it an issue. I'm the bread winner between the two of us and since she doesn't work and is a full time student she basically just knows that she is provided for and seems content with that. She knows we have a little money, but I'm not sure if she has any idea how much money I've saved. Strange how we never talk about money.

BTC seems like a wild ride, I don't think I could handle the stress.

Fair nuff. Makes sense and is probably really nice to rarely have money come up as a topic of conversation

Well done man.
Im 30 and if I could save up 100k in the next 5 years id be ecstatic. Realistically hoping for 20k. Right now at about 4k.
Just started trying to save and grow wealth in the stock market and in crypto a few months ago.
But not sure how kind the market will be to me this year.
Dont blame you not wanting to tell people..
Seems like things could quickly get funny or go down hill. Unless you know people well off and in similar financial shape. Might be easier for someone to be happy for you and celebrate with you.
Any plans for using it ?
Im saving for a down payment on a house myself, if i had money, soon as this housing market switches id be grabbing up land, houses, property

Keep at it Endiku.
You seem to have a better acumen for understanding the stock market than I do, you’re gonna be ok if you stick to smart trading

A "bit" proud of yourself? What an understatement! Well done and you have earned a pat on the back no doubt.

Really? How did you come to that conclusion?
I recently talked to a lawyer about this issue and was told that even prenuptial agreements cannot subvert written marriage law. Assets prior to union can sometimes be protected however assets acquired during a union are much harder to protect Life changing events can also undermine marital contracts and they almost always fail to prevent martial maintenance because alimony and child support are issues of law, and again you cannot subvert law with a contract.
Have you sought legal advice about how to protect your wealth?

Can't believe there are millionaires here yet again this is a broad spectrum of members from all walks of life
I am 32 years of age like yourself but only have 6 dollars in my bank account .... Drug abuse and lowself esteem has rendered me useless ..

If you have 6 dollars, don't invest in ANYTHING. That's like trying to win the Olympic gold in sprinting before you learn how to walk.
You need to budget, first. Make more money, second. Have an emergency fund with 3 months worth of expenses, minimum.
Then you can think about investing.
