Masters mix pre-blended pellets

Has anyone tried the combo pellets that are available now? It's a pellet that's already a 50/50 mix of sawdust and soybean hulls. I'll refrain from using the company name but it's the main company doing this. I've read a lot of stuff about how great they are so I bought some. They were way more expensive than buying the hwfp and soybean hull pellets separately from a feed store but I thought I'd try it. I figured it would be way more convenient.
I've tried everything and I cant make them work worth a shit. The mycelium looks very unhappy and colonize poorly. The fruits take a few extra days to develop and the yeilds are down about 20 percent from my usual mix. I've tried several different amounts of water. I figured out really quick I couldn't run 60 percent water like normal. They just won't hold that much. Looks soupy with that much water. My usual mix holds 60 and looks on the dry side
I wouldn't worry too much about it and just carry on with my usual mix but my dumbass bought a whole pallet of this junk and I'd like to be able to use it

I really see no purpose in such a product. If youre a big grower Id assume they use automated mixers for their substrates so its not like it saves any time or labor. And if youre a small time grower like myself, its pretty darn easy to mix the dry ingredients together before adding water. Seems like they are just trying to cash in on people who otherwise dont know how easy it is to make masters mix.. thanks for letting us know about them and being the guinae pig on this one! Do they break up easy when you add water? I know pelletized soy can get sticky and hard to work with.

The rate at which they expand in water is another issue I didn't address. They are definitely too compacted and take too long to expand. I'm an idiot for buying so many without testing a small amount first. Lessons learned I suppose. Expensive lessons

I bought my soybean hulls as a 50# sack of powder. It's great. Gonna buy a cement mixer today to prep my master mix moving forward.

Maybe part of the combo mix is some kind of fungicide or something with anti fungal properties? like some of the colouring people use in their agar. one of the ingredients slows fungal growth as a preservation method.

Where do you buy your soy hull? I live in corpus Christi Texas and checked all the feed stores...nothing. One place sells some soy hulls that is blended with corn. Will that get the same or similar results as
