Do you have sudden contam. Problems 2

Are you suddenly experiencing a problem with contamination when none existed before?
Recently, I was able to start up my cultivation projects again, but started having trouble with various contaminates ranging from penicillium to Aspergillis Niger. After several attempts to find my problem, I started paying extra attention to each step but couldn't figure out what was wrong.
Finally, I decided to run a few batches of grains to see if my problem was sterilization or my technique was suffering from being on such a long hiatus from mushcult. Each run of the pc included 2 control jars, one 8n the normal position and one on top. Normally, I can get 7 quart jars in the pc standing upright and 3 on there sides on top of the 7 jars. I made sure to vent the pc for a full 10 minutes with each run. This is when I realized that I wasn't getting adequate sterilization, and 3 out 10 jars would contaminate and no it wasn't always the 3 on top. Come to find out my pressure gauge needed to be recalibrated, it was reading 4psi higher than it Actually was. I had this done at the local county extension office and they were nice enough to do it in exchange for some Chanterelles I picked earlier in the day.
So, if you're having issues with contamination and you're sure it's not your technique, it's most likely incomplete sterilization. Hopefully, sharing with you my experience with this issue, will help you, to figure out what is going on with your grow.

Technique and in sufficient sterilization are usually the 2 main causes of contamination or not making enough transfers to escape contamination that is on wild/cultivated cloned fruits and spore prints.

Doc, things went better after recalibrating? I mean molds should be killed way below sterilizing temps. Besides that i`m glad not to have a pressure gauge on my presto. I just trust the rocker.
But i can hear you clearly. Once you change or leave a winning team, you may go insane finding the issue later on.

I had this happen recently as well and had to up my pc times to compensate for the lack of psi experienced.

I will have a better idea after a few runs, the problem was just discovered.
Yes, mould is killed at sterilization temperatures but if the pressure gauge isn't correct, you may not be reaching a high enough temperature to kill all of the spores. Bacterial endospores are also a problem and require much higher temperatures than mould, it was another issue I was having that should have been mentioned in my original comment.
