Huh, you really do no pour glass plates don't you D? I thought you were joking. That's pretty interesting I would have never thought that would work. I bet tall ones like that are your holy grail.

It just seems like they would come out really wet with condensation would be my main concern.

Mine are moist for sure, but I use ziplocks instead of wrapping, they dry up in a few days.

I do glass no pour, too. Works fine. I handle them like pp5 container no pours. Condensation is usually gone in 2 or 3 days. They get stored unwrapped in the cardbox package they were delivered in. With layers of paper towels in between.

Do you just sterilize them right next to the agar while it cooks? Do you have to wrap them in a filter bag or anything like that?

** Didn't see y'all are doing no pours. What about if you want to pour? How do you sterilize the plates?

well, theres a tek for no pour glass petris somewhere around here with cling wrap. I use aluminium foil.

Basically I cook agar, lay the petris on a desk and pour the agar right from the stove. It cools in under 5 minutes.

Then I wrap stacks of 4-5 dishes with aluminium foil and sterilize for 20 minutes.
You have to put some jars under the stacks or water will boil in. Right after the PC drops to 0 PSI, I take the stacks out and lay the dishes on the desk for cooling. They come out of the PC with almost no condensation, as you can see

after cooling, store them in a cardboard box with layers of paper towels inbetween.

Ive never used glass but I love the glass no pours. For some reason the no pour containers just turn me off.

Could most likely get 3 bolts, 6 washers, and 6 nuts and rig up legs for your trivet. Seems easier than propping with jars. I think that's what I may try next with my pp petris. I'm also trying metering the dose of agar one solidified and letting it melt during the cycle to get nice thin layers. It worked well with pasty plates.

careful with steel on aluminum contact it causes corrosion.

I don't think it would be an issue unless you left it in long term. If you really were worried about it you could order aluminum bolts nuts and washers for the same price as steel or use brass. Both are even available at many hardware stores.

I know that galvanic corrosion is a thing but seeing how many steel head bolts and gaskets I've pulled out if aluminum blocks I'd say it's likely not going to be an issue

I have rusty ring marks on the bottom of my AA. Switched to stainless jar rings to prop my trivet.

I had a Presto that was ruined from leaving jar ring spacers inside with water for a few weeks (many times I am forgetful) there was a bunch of extremely deep pitting.

That's sad. I saw someone using galvanized electrical boxes as spacers on the bottom, might work better, not sure how long they'd hold up tho.

I've always used a trivet then rings then another trivet. One of them has some pitting but not bad. I just try not to forget them if the rings are in them.

The tall petris are heaven for sure.
I don't have too much issue with condensation but there are times where it's a total pain.

Current tat plates

These dishes were a stupid idea but I'm still using them to expand clean cultures, next to glass petris they're absolute crap but I have the need to play with agar.

106 days? That's a long time. I ordered one on ebay and got it in a week then had it replaced within a week. Sounds rough. Guy at the factory said they're behind a few hundred units.
