If I put colonized spawn from two different cube varieties (like B+ and Albino A+) and mix with coir, will I just get both varieties or will it create a hybrid? Or how would I best achieve a hybrid?

You could achieve a cross with mixing spawn, it's happened. I'm sure it's failed more often than worked. Better option would be to streak a place with both. Streak one left to right and the other front to back, making a grid pattern. Take transfers from the intersections that germinate.

When you guys hunt for good fruiting cultures after you clone to agar what do you look for on the plate. Say you do 20 would you put the fastest growing one to slant. The most rizomorphic one? And if you are trying to preserve a good fruiting culture is there is mutiple sectors on the plate wouldn't each sector produce different results? Would you try to get to single sector?

clean, even growth. rizo means absolutely nothing about the culture's genetics. you can make any cube culture go rizo by reducing and/or changing the available nutrients. heres a quote from Bod about the topic, and my 2 cents about why its proliferated

Noobs are the only ones worried about rhizomorphic growth. I don't know why they only find old ass threads that say that shit but not any new threads that say tomentose vs rhizomorphic growth is largely based on environment and cultures switch between growing rhizo or tomentose regularly
its cause the morons on Reddit keep repeating that. try googling tomentose growth and look at the top result, and consider how many people don't even go past the google search once they think they got an answer

I honestly don’t know how shroomery isn’t ten times bigger. So many people I talk to from other places haven’t even heard of it.
I guess just the way I operate it’s unthinkable to park myself at the first spot I come across and not check out and compare every resource I have access to.
I wonder if uncle bens noticed a big spike in sales over the last year and figured out they have reddit to thank.

Ok so look for clean even growth. So if I have 10 plates all inoculated at the same time choose the fastest growing most symmetrical growth and put that to culture slant. Also if I have a dish that has let's say 4 different sectors. And I cut it 4 ways and put each sector to a quart jar. And put each at jar to a shoebox I'd have different results from each sector.and wen I have a symmetrical plate should I cut towards the middle of the dish and not the leading edge of the plate to insure I don't isolate always from the genetics I'm trying to preserve. I hope all that made sense I have my 3 year on my lap talking to me the whole time 😆😆 thanks for your guys help.

I noticed millet/WBS grains can stick to the upper sides. They stick to the lid of the jar even if the moisture is perfect (though in my case it's too wet). Some of these grains remain uncolonized.
Is it a reasonable practice to break up a 99% colonized jar and turn it upside down for 12-24 hours so the mycelia gets pressed onto any stuck grains? Or would that risk contam somehow? Or are a handful of uncolonized grains not a big deal? (I don't think bigger grains will stick this way, but millet and probably sorghum does unless the jar is severely dry.)
Here is an unripe jar, too wet, but after some days the stuck grain did not fuzz out:

That grain looks like it has something colonizing it. See the little white hair like things? But yeah if you are regularly shaking your jars at what ever intervals you pefer 10/30/70. Usually it will knock down those little guys and there is no issue. That being said I would NOT spawn a jar with uncolonized grains.

You're right, I picked a bad example photo! But if a grain sticks and does not colonize after my 70% shake, shaking again and inverting would be better than ignoring it?

I get that all the time. A lot of them will still have myc growing on them and out onto the glass but otherwise I would just open the jar and pick them out before spawning.
I’d say if you shook the jar at all the grain will be colonized though even if it doesn’t look like if.

If going G2G, uncolonized grain present no problem (unless they only appear uncolonized because bacteria has taken them over). If planning to spawn to bulk, do not allow the uncolonized grain to get into the sub. As stated, open the jar and remove them. Also, if a vigorous shake doesn't remove them from the walls, they'll probably stay there when spawning. This would be fine. Also also, I can almost always get them to fall down into the rest of the grain by smacking the bottom of the jar against my smashing pad.

So ive got several 1/2 pint brf jars about ready to birth a few of wich still colonizing. The temperature has been increasing latley and i do not have a/c. My main concern is they are all sweating heavily. I guess i just want someone to tell me they will be ok.
Heres a pic of one to be birthed the next couple days.

Edit: i think I'm good. Only a few more days!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pf jar that didn’t sweat. Could still be bacterial, but chances are you’ll get a flush from it and then you can clone and clean up if you want

Do 2 of these cakes have actually started pinnin during consolidation. One of wich it looks like is growing from mycelium on the glass. My plan was to birth wednesday but when i noticed them i now wonder if i should today. Should I give the lot a few more days or go ahead and birth tonight?

Those are ready to go.
When you see the thick veins forming like that first one has that means it’s switching to fruiting mode.
