Shroom picking problem...

Ok if anyone has followed my last couple posts my friend has a straw bulk grow that was just growing shrooms from the sides. Anyways...A few of the shrooms are mature and have caps starting to turn up, but they are grown in with a bunch of smaller shrooms, that still have a bit before maturing.

-How should he pick these shrooms w/ out dangering the younger ones?

O yea, there was one shroom growing by itself that he picked, but the base of it was about an inch down the substrate and when he twisted it out and big chunk was left behind...will this be ok?

Just patch the spot where you picked with more casing material. As far as the big mushroom with smaller ones underneath.. Eh, well you don't want to leave that big one in there too long. You might just have to try your best not to harm the little ones and if they wind up coming up with it, just patch. You can always redunk your log and get another flush.

would cutting off the cap of the big one, and letting the little ones grow be ok?

Umm i'd try to get the chunk of that big shroom out. it will start to rot and possibly contam your casing. As for the shroom with little ones around it, If picking it is gonna rip up the little ones, i'd leave it, cuz a buncha little ones full grown are gonna out weigh that one. If you can get it out without messin up the lil ones then go for it.
