I Learned Growing Up That Most Venomous Snakes Have A Triangular Shaped Head & Most Non Venomous Snakes Have More Of An Oval Shaped Head. There Are Exceptions Though, A Coral Snake Has An Oval Shaped Head, For Those I Always Used The "Black To Yellow, Kill A Fellow, Red To Black, Put It Back" Saying.

These are really good guidelines actually! As with mushrooms though, don't go fucking with snakes you can't identify hahaha

Yeah The Only Ones I Can Identify By Looking At (That Are Found In Texas) Are Coppers, Water Moccasins, Rattles, Water Snakes, Garters, Rats & Stuff Like That.

The Only Ones Ill Try & Catch Are The Garters But They're Always Too Damn Fast.

I Used To Catch All Kinds Of Water Snakes Some Years Back But Sometimes They Can Look Just Like A Moccasin & Vice Versa, I've Had A Couple Really Close Calls So I Don't Mess With Them Anymore.

Still no ovoids but I did come across a dead snapper I believe  (think it was swept down a nearby waterfall) and a napping newborn fawn while rummaging through some knotweed today.

Not a luna moth but he was a fatty. Heard this guy scurrying around. Looked like his wings were limp and couldnโ€™t fly.

Thatโ€™s a big boy, looks like it may have only recently emerged from its cocoon the way its wings are folded.

Love the milk snake, they display many different patterns and colors here, often found around abandoned steel mills and large rock faces.

I think its called a tussock moth or something like that.

Lunar moths are one of my favorite moths.

Unfortunately,  many people confuse snakes like hognose and banded water snakes as venomous because they will flatten their heads to mimic venomous snakes. The banded water snakes is easy to differentiate from the moccasins by its tail, water snakes have long thin tapering tails white a moccasin has a thick bodied shorter tail.

As for the rhyme for coral vs king snakes,  I learned " black and yellow kill a fellow,  red and blacks good for Jack.

Edit: word correction,  meant tapering but posted as tampering.

Not sure what this guy is but was a cool golden color.

Seen on the job site in Newnan cleaning up  some torando damage.

Hung out with a baby woodchuck today while checking over a dung heap; gave him head scratches for Shroomhunts and in the process karma shone its light right on some pans and a snake skin, both within arms reach.. I think Iโ€™m starting to understand how Shroomhunts  manages such massive ovoid hauls.. baby animal head scratches = :mushroom2:

This little feller was inside a dead Ash tree I took down.  He was moved out of the way and given head scritchies before mumma came by to scoop em up.  Would have loved to keep him as a party squirrel, teach him how to drink beer and waterski.

Found these shortly afterwards, I believe in the connection! :mushroom2:

Not sure what this guy was but it was a chilly day so he wasn't very bitey.
