Make sure you use cold water so the agar doesn't clump, and give it a good shake to mix it b4 pc'ing.

I always thought a rocket stove might do the trick. Maybe some kind of adjustable rack to get where you can crank it where you want it, I bet it could be done. Lots of sticks around to burn.

I’ve seen a pressure cooker used over an open flame once. The guy just had a wire rack on top of a couple concrete blocks to hold the pc up. A metal sheet was held over the fire to drop the pressure occasionally

Done, thanks guys

Got 19 plates before it solidified in the jar and I couldn't hit that last 20th plate lol.

I will keep one to the side as a control, but I've been doing this long enough I am confident in what I just did.  Game changing.

What y'all think about putting a blender lid on a fresh LC right after an agar drop and blending your wedge into the LC? Think it might speed the LC colonization?

It would if done right. I don't see a need though. LC on a stir plate is quick enough for me.

I see now why it's advised to add some broken glass or how yall use stir plates like real scientists

You let that happen

Having something in the jar to break up the colony is useful for sure, but even with nothing in it you won't see the colony clumping up if you swirl daily. At least that's always been my experience the times I used nothing to break up the myc.
It may sound crazy but there's also a bit of a learning curve on how to swirl efficiently.

Jars with nothing in it, just plain swirling:

Clumping is not much of an issue if you're planning on pouring the LC, though.

It might take even longer because now the blended wedge will take longer to recover. Imo, it's best to let the wedge recover before you put it on a stir plate or even swirl. Once the wedge recovers, growth is going to be exponential in the liquid because lots of myc fragments are going to break up from the wedge when you swirl/stir.

If you want quick colonization, use no more than 150-200 ml and add 0,15% Agar by volumen [I like to mix and heat the lme(0,2-0,4%)and agar before pouring into the LC jars].

I don't use stirrers and my LC's colonize in a matter of 5-7 days from biopsy. I understand this may sound like BS but you can try it yourself and see. No stirrers used, a tube reaching the bottom for breaking up the colony, swirl once or twice a day once I see growth.

200 ml of LC is really a lot, you can noc a lot of shit with that and it colonizes way faster than a 500ml broth. You can always noc more LC's if you need more.

:whathesaid:

I always do 200-250ml broths. They are ready quicker and the volume is easier to handle and can inoculate a shit of grains.

Sometimes when noobs post entire quarts of lc its like, what exactly are you using all that power when they probably grow few tubs of cubes at most.

Yep I for sure underestimated how far lc goes at first. Even my little 1/2 pint jars half full of broth will make way more spawn than I need. Especially if you use the lc to make g2g masters.

I'mma cut the wedge in half and run it in 2 jars and blend one of them. Thinking the blend will also give the broth an oxygen boost.

If you all are looking for fast lc colonization. Squirt 1 cc of lc into a new lc jar. It will recover and colonize faster than starting again from another wedge.

I'm also side by side experimenting with making my slurries mostly out of canola oil with like 30% water. Testing starbones' canola theories. Too early to see any difference right now.
