EDIT: I mean, the agar stuff of course. Newer knew there were enough nutes in agar for mushrooms to pull that kind of shit. Maybe less nutritious formula would be more appropriate.
Those are BRF pucks not agar. Just FYI

I've got some second flush pins starting to come through. I added a very thin casing of potting soil right after harvesting the first flush which I was unsure about but its looking good. Next time I'm going to add it before the first flush. I used miracle grow potting soil so there are some of those weird little fertilizer pellets in it. Next time I'll get something better, it's just what I had on hand.

Hey guys, about to bust out my Natal print soon. Was looking for some tips. Is the general consensus that lower spawn ratio helps prevent the overlay ? I know it's mostly genetics related so I'll be looking for tomentose growth.

Overlay is caused by improper surface conditions. Rizo or tomentose doesn't matter. It's the same mycelium expressing itself in different forms. Cloned material shows both tipes of growth. A thin casing layer of poting soil after full colonization of the sub is all you need to get good flushes.

Nice. If you add it from the beginning, after full colonization of the sub, the myc will completely take over the poting soil but it won't overlay.

Perfect. Thanks for the info! I was planning to this time however I went out of town for a week right in the middle of colonization and when I came back they were already pinning so I had to just roll with it. I took some clones and expect that using those genetics plus adding the potting soil casing right after full colonization is going to give me some killer flushes. I'll definitely be keeping all of you updated with how it all shakes out.

Crack those nats are so pretty.
My nats do this.

sock we definitely got similar genetics. Sooo many tubs I’ve spotted the first pins from the side of the tub trapped under overlay.
That tub is awesome crack I like the black from the spores too.
It seems like these either do some weird overlay and then randomly pin strange fruits like sock just had, or canopy big ass nice mushrooms like crack and psilopsychins tubs.
Those last two pictures sum up natalensis perfectly.

It ended up looking like this before I got to harvest. I get paper toweled it but it still got a little messy.
