Not a cultivation pic but found a nice chunky oyster on my walk today. I usually spend alot of time in the woods this time of year but Ive been lazy lately. Unfortunately this beautiful specimen was already over run with beetles and little white worms. Normall a couple insects dont bother me (protein right), but when they really take a mush over they make the inside of the mush all mealy. Totally unappealing. :frown:

Ooo nice. Definitely wish I could forage mushrooms on my simple walkabouts. No rain this year though, will be a shit foraging year.

Those look great man! Terrestrial fungi has some gnarly looking antler type strains, I've been wanting to grow blacks for a while but I dont have the patience or demand.
I think c02 plays into whether you will get antler or conk formations also, at least that's what one of stamets books says.

Those are looking good.

Ive always side fruited, not sure how top fruiting will go.

Also harvesting early is advisable as they get bitter if left too long.

Lastly, they are a brittle cap, so be gentle with them.  Super tasty fried up though. Have a taste and texture similar to a white fish.

It's a 9lb block, also I just sliced a 6 inch about line through the side of the bag, almost looks like that bag on the left could have used another hole to grow through? Idk ha. Those looked nice tho, I definetly let mine go a hair over at least, they're so delicate!

I hear a lot of people have trouble with pioppino. They have always been easy for me. King trumpets are my nemesis I guess. Pioppino don't seem to be picky at all. I just let the bag sit until it pins on top then I cut the top half of the bag off and throw it in the growroom. My growroom stay about 67 degrees in the summer and about 60 in the winter

I think kings are extremely picky. Any deviation from what they like and the fruits stall out.

I haven't found an oyster culture that works for me.. so oddly enough, in my opinion piopinno is easier than oysters.
