First time I found ovoids was in early July in Northern Ohio, and they were huge gnarly ones hiding under knotweed, but the thing is I've strangely never found more than a few handfuls at a time. Hope to change that in the next month.

That’s reassuring to hear Moria, Ive been starting to get discouraged thinking I’m out of time and the season might be over. Still haven’t found any yet but rains finally on its way!
Not an ovoid I did manage to stumble upon this little guy hiding in the knotweed while out looking today.

So cool... They are so good at being still to the point you think they're dead. My experience anyway...
Looks dry there but doesn't stop the knotweed.

For real, incredibly good, this guy was laying dead still the only way I could tell was its breathing. It’s funny I came across one on this same exact day last year but in a completely different place.
Its certainly been dry here, I’m hoping these coming rains spark something off

At first it just sat there sort of burying its head, pretending not to notice me. I chilled with it for a minute but think I must’ve moved towards it a little bit too quickly for its liking because when I went in to give it head scratches for Shroomhunts he opened his eyes, perked up, and started making movements like he was going to get up and run, so I kindly backed away.
Always a cool experience meeting with baby animals in the wild, their innocence and nativity often make for great interactions. I was really surprised to spot him where I did too as that place is a fairly popular spot with people walking dogs and such

Their fur is usually very soft when they are young. To be tripping balls and find yourself sitting in the woods chilling next to one of these creatures is very cool. Some of the neighbors feed them corn here so they are often in the area but its different when your in their domain. Also astonishing that they are independent from their parents at such a young age compared to us humans. They have not yet grown enough to learn our evils and will openly accept head scratches. Quite an odd experience when you've had one at the other end of a scope or on the front of your car, then to be vibing with another out in nature just enjoying life together
Shame you caught him taking a nap, probably a bit startled to wake and find this alien creature trying to probe you
On a different page, good hauls from the mulch beds and enjoying the nightlife of the city while tripping is always a fun way to spend a Friday

Been between a steady rain to heavy drizzle ALL day today with & cooler temp. In other words... the perfect mushroom producing weather.
My question is - Is it to little to late? With temperatures reaching up to the 90's this past week + it being so dry prior to that makes me wonder that.
I lucked out & found like 8 last Monday evening but they were hidden under some knotweed. I'll keep my fingers crossed & hope for the best because this far as you all know - this season SUCKS!!!

Wild finds will be difficult now even with the consistent good weather, mulch beds are going strong especially ones that didn't flush yet, lots of pins. For hunting in the wild id recommend at the very least a machete, we built this beast of a electric weedwacker with steel wire frayed st the ends, it eats through any vegetation with ease even can cut up logs ill have to make a tek or something. Lifesaver when you know where they are but can't easily get them due to thick groundcover and tall knotweeds.

Yup a lot of the mulch that never had a chance to fruit because it’s been too dry should fruit now with this rain. Mulch is always a late season affair anyways

You need to operate under stealt around my parts blending as ordinary trail walkers. Carry a machete and the 9-11 switch board lights up.
I do well walking small creeks late season, but im to lazy and my freezer is packed.
Its been a great season.

Just noticed some pins in a seeded landscape bed. Coastal northeast showing some life with this rain. It’s been cold and dry here.

Those are the strangest ovoids I've ever seen! So pale, like some kind of albino variant. Thinking about variations, I didn't see anyone post any pics of the "bell shaped cap" variety this year.

Finally back to the spot but not much going on. Just a few stuck between two logs in the darkest spot, hard to see.. Thorns, bugs, and allergies making it a tough go... feels good to step into the sun. Beautiful day. River not up as much as I thought it would be, but logs at the spot were moved so water prob got there within the past week. Couple kayaking by were discussing drugs... Someone eat something from the grill for me! I'll be eating Panda Express
