Haha thanks, it's a mock-up for my next house.

I try to move my blocks as little as possible especially the shiitake. Each shelf is basically one week of inoculations and will all go to the fruiting room at the same time. Then it'll get loaded with the next set.

I am having a problem with this setup tho because the shiitake on the back row don't brown nearly as well as the front row. Wish I had more space for some bigger better shelves.

Good question, I honestly never weighed them.

They were roughly 1.8m, 35cm diameter.
Heavy logs, maybe 60-70kg but they were filled and tied to allow them to settle on the floor to reduce strain on the overhead structure.

Wow holy straw logs. Cool its like a straw forest.

The surfaces of my maitake bags are starting to get their gray globular blobs (very scientific I know). Super excited to see the next stage forming! All research has told me to just keep the bags sealed until the mush takes up most of the empty space then cut top open to fruit. So far the myc has veen just as aggressive as oyster, though I think this stage will go much slower.

Dmdave, Is that the aloha swordbelt pioppino? Looks incredible.

Hummus, thanks for the hen of the woods update. My maitake got the globs on day 45. Have peeked a few times in a bag or two. Starting to see early fronds.

Outdoor temps are rising, summer is coming were getting some hot days already. But I keep my apartment at a cool 60-65 with the AC so its a mushroom paradise indoors over here!

Luckily my garage hasn't gotten much higher than 65. Big trees outside really help.

Those are some monsters farm3r, I have yet to make pulled kings but it always sounds good.

Pulled kings are delishhhhh. I even go a step further and shred them on the ultra fine cheese grater holes and it makes an excellent "crab meat" substitute for dipping in a garlic butter sauce.

Man pioppino look so delicious and fun to grow. Do you temp control your FC for shiitake? My FC is around 20c which is too warm I believe for shiitake.

68f (20c) should be ok. My fc is right around 65 at the peak and will dip to 55 on a cold day. Farm3r gave me a warm shiitake strain that I'm interested in trying. I have an ac ready to go in case things start to get too warm.
