A trusted source told me to fill the pot up 1/5 capacity with water and it will be enough. I am just taking his word for it but in the end I guess I will just have to figure it all out through trial and error.

Got the replacement handle, a true #7 handle with #11 blades. The slight drop point on the scalpel makes the transfer slide off onto the new plate about a million times better than my exacto knife.

Exacto knife top, new scalpel bottom

I am 6 hours into the 12 hour test run and I have used around 30% percent of the water so far. Tomorrow I am going to give it a shot and cook some sawdust bags.

nice, the one true scalpel to rule them all.
However there is a #11 exacto blade available, you were using the huge ass #2 blades.

The only thing im thinking is I steam grain for 12 hours after core temp of 212f is reached and it ends up being about 20 hrs total. I do the same for blocks but I add alfalfa pellets and wheat bran so extra time may be needed. Let us know how it works for sawdust blocks. Are u supplementing them at all?

Hah!
I got three of these cut up, I use some for keeping moisture in small outdoor logs, use the tops for funnels for filling jars or w/e, the bottoms for FC's or subs. And I have more than I could ever use if I ran out. I will probably run Oysters in them with some holes, like the bucket method, as well.

The start of a project inspired by josex. I think I can make a simple version. Waiting on some ends and odds to get it working. Living in a place fucked with mold, during the summer, and not being able to afford a flow hood right now sucks.

My dehydrator wasn't big enough to dry my harvests...
So I turned my grain strainer into my new dehydrator:

I was able to put the centers of each tray into the 5 gallon to help separate the mushrooms. It seems to be working, I'll know for sure in the morning
Thoughts?

Nice. I'm about to do the same thing once I get a harvest in, even fully expanded with extra trays the Presto dehydro really doesn't fit all that much it's a bit of a PITA.
Funky Monkey uses a roll of window screen to keep different varieties separate btw, could be useful for you.

Ya, the trays in mine have a center piece that pops out that I was able to use to separate the RW from the PE6 in the bucket.
I'm glad it's been done and will work! I wasn't going to have enough room in my fridge for them all lol

I use a bucket strainer for grains too, used it for mush drying once with a lid on it with a hole to put a blow dryer into on low, worked ok but was a power sucker

They were around $3 from my local lab supply store. I can get cheaper glass for around $0.8 but it's no where near to the same quality. I previously bought petriq petris from the same company so this was a pleasant surprise. They're surprisingly good with condensation straight out of the pc which I don't find with the thinner petris.
