Hey, i found a nice cluster of mushrooms growing around the base of a tree in the forrest. sorry i dont got any pics. they are small mushrooms, the stem is hollow and white and no more then 4 inches long, and 1 in diameter. the stem is the same size all the way down. The cap is a watery yellow with a brown carmel splotch in the middle,it was bell shaped and is no more than 2 inches in diameter (most of them were only 1 inch in diameter). It also had a small nipple in the middle of the splotch. The gills are blackish purple and when i touched them my fingers got all black. i am thinking maybe its an inky cap of somesort because 1 day after they were plucked, they turned black and liquidy. thanx
your suspicions are most likely correct- liquifying(sp?- lord god...) is a coprinicus kind of thing to do. Habitat sounds fine. Eat em if you want but I hate the way they taste even fresh- shaggy manes are a tiiiny bit different/ better. Velcome to de shroomery.. mwa mwa mwa... um- I mean good luck.
