Europe coir brand
    #27318283 - 05/22/21 05:06 AM (3 years, 7 months ago)

I would like to know which coco coir brand European shroomery members use, at my local pet store i can only find 3 brands..
1. TRIXIE brand (650g)
2. JBL- Terra coco humus (600g)
3. Repti Planet (635g)

I know eco earth is more or less standard in this hobby but its unavailable here.

Cheers!

I always weigh them, they often differ.
But that doesn`t matter.
Throw in some verm or squeeze.

yeah, you have to adjust the amount depending on your coir. I remember when i started and tried 5 liter for one block of coir per bods instructions  :nicetry:
Didnt work out to well.

Try ebay, i can get almost everything from there.

I actually weigh out 800g off of a big brick and water like so.
1/6 coir by weight 5/6 water by weight 0/6th coffee 0/6 vermiculite
200g coir to 1000g(1L) water
(200g coir/1200g total=1/6th coir 1000g/1200g=5/6th water)
400g coir to 2000g(2L) water
800g coir to 4000g(4L) water
PROtip: multiply your coir weight by 5 to get your water weight. use the metric system and your water weight is your water volume

I once got this one:

Looks like a bog, but i love it for the drain valve.
I push down another bucket on top to release excess moisture.

Sorry for  :offtopicman:

ah sorry, i remembered it wrong. There was a 5 in my mind. Just the wrong unit. Still to much.
I multiply by 3.25, so  I use 2 quarts per 650g. Otherwise its to wet. Weird, that you can use 3 quarts. Should be the same coir.

Trixie it is for me. Never had issues and its cheap af. You can get the huge 60L brick from Amazon for like 13€.

Also never seen it pre-contaminated with the white fuzz some one here have experienced with other coir.

This growth is done with trixie coir, decent coir for sure. I switched to JBL TerraCoco. For me JBL holds more water and overall quality of coir is greater then trixie and others i tried

Can happen with any coir brand.
Everything can be the carrier of mold, even plastic.

That's a nice grow for sure! So now I've gotten positive responses from multiple sources, should be good to go.

Thanks!
