Got mold in my no-pours. How did this likely happen?

I made a bunch of no-pours using Aliens Holy Grail screw top containers. I think about half of them got the mold you see in the pics (sorry containers are cloudy). I sterilized them in my instapot at high pressure (12.9 I think) for 35 minutes. I know that's not 15 PSI, but I'm surprised mold survived unless they got in during the few seconds it took to screw the containers tight while still in the instapot. That seems a little blue to be trich but then I'm partially colorblind. Any idea what that mold is and what was the likely contam vector? Thanks.

If you left the lids loose then opened hot they sucked dirty air in the containers. I tried the Holy trail recently and had a few pop up with mold for me as well and not a single of my regular no pours had any mold whatsoever. I left mine to cool inside the PC so attributed it to loose lids.

i have a few holy grail containers that i’ll sterilize along side my more traditional pasty plates. last run my pasty’s didn’t contaminate but my holy grails did. the only thing i can think of is what professor x said where air got sucked inside due to pressure differences or something. i usually don’t get contamination on them but it happens occasionally to me

I only use HGs for most of my agar work, got a few pasty plates for A2G. Only had em contaminate when I've left them with the lids loose for a while because I forgot to tighten up after they dry out. Could you tell us your process step by step? Might be another piece of the puzzle somewhere.
I normally PC for 35-45 mins at 15 PSI and remove from the PC once it's about to hit 0. Even after that I won't screw em tight so the condensation can evaporate.
Maybe your pot isnt as high pressure as you think it is? Try a batch on a longer run next time if it isn't what prof X suggests.

I open my no pours upside down because of this, if I open them right side up the lid almost pops off because it's a tight fit, the pressure differential sucks in contams from my experience.

With HG's you leave them unscrewed slightly when PC'ing and I think 35 minutes is not enough time at that pressure. I do this all the time and my plates are flawless with the exception of some condensation, which dissipates after sitting for a week.... I usually have 4 or 5 I can use right away.
From the tek "Sterilize them at 17 psi for 1 hour"

gotta let the pc cool before messing with it. Open PC in draft free area.

Fo sho. 17 psi for an hour is unnecessarily long for no pours which have practically no mass. You could pc them for 10 minutes with no problem. They heat up basically instantly.

HG’s are PC’d that long because the tek uses a mason jar or other container during the cycle. According to the tek.....
