u was reading on the last page of this thread about using microtape...
whats everyones thoughts on this?
here is what was said. they have 3 options, does anyone do this?
1. Double layer of micropore tape
- Add micropore tape before PC
- Clean micropore tape with alchool
- Flame sterilize spore syringe and inoculate each hole through micropore tape
- Add second layer of micropore tape on top of first one
2. Single layer of micropore tape
- Add micropore tape before PC
- Clean micropore tape with alchool
- Remove micropore tape before inoculation
- Flame sterilize spore syringe and inoculate each hole
- Add second micropore tape
3. No micropore tape
- Add micropore tape before PC
- Clean micropore tape with alchool
- Remove micropore tape before inoculation
- Flame sterilize spore syringe and inoculate each hole

so no microspore tape after inoculation?
also as a extra safety measure would it be worth using electic tape to seal the tin fin ends onto the jars? so i could be sure no water will enter when in PC?

Tin foil them.
Dry verm layer on top acts as a filter.
No tape needed after pc.

ok thanks, do people let the jars sit uninoculated for several days and watch for any colored growths or changes in the appearance of the substrate and any smells once they have been in the PC?

Some leave 1 jar unnocced up as a control jar to see if it contams but I think in general most people let them cool down overnight and use the in the next day or so. Generally the fresher the better with spawn/cakes but a few days should be fine. I've only done pf a while back and used them the next day.

I've only done top fruiting with suspicious BRF jars, because I wouldn't want them contaminating my whole Fruiting chamber, so I top fruit them in a ziplock bag.
Solid tek though, I prefer the more surface that normal fruiting provides.

everythings comming along....
i unboxed my presto tonight...very impressed with the quality.
seems simple enough, do people just use water in there pressure cookers? or is a little vinegar the way to go? how much water should i put in the presto 23 with 6 half pint wide mouth jars? also any other tips not in teks?

Only use vinegar if you have hard water, hard water deposits white powdery residue on the jars which the vinegar helps to prevent.
Fill the water so they half cover the jars.

Little confused do u do field capacity to the verm once brl is In The mix or just with the verm? And doesn’t a little steam get inside the jars in pressure cooker? That why I thought some tape around foil on jar might b handy sls is tap water fine to use for the ester content in the jars ?

Look here.
You don`t tape the foil.
Of course steam gets inside, as it has to.
The foil prevents dripping water into the jar holes.
Tap water is fine.

Usually we have pressure canners that reach 15psi minimum.
One cycle pf jars is at least 60 mins.
Quart grain jars 90-120 mins.
If you can´t reach 15psi, you need some time up.
Steaming pf jars without pressure at least 90 mins.

If I wanted to go extreme can I go longer at a higher psi? What do u mean one cycle do people to it more then once?

Totally up to you.
You can give some weight to the rocker,
to not have it rattle at 15psi steadily.
I don't do as i don't have a pressure gauge on my presto.
Always keep in mind safety first.
