Vented lids on plates?

Hey guys-
Am I correct that "Vented lids" means they have a little gap between the edge of the lid and plate? These are little plastic risers yeah?

I have noticed on some blank plates I had wrapped and stored a tiny bit of bacteria around the very edge of the plate. I inspected and found on some plates some very tiny vertical tears on the gap between the underside of the lid and plate . Here is the spot I mean:

So it's possible contams can enter through the rip in the Parafilm and thru the vent.
Anyone else have this problem? I've had this roll for a while but it's not dried out or anything. I might try setting them on a piece of paper because maybe the Parafilm is sticking to my glass desktop and getting tears when I pick them up, or put a piece between them if I stack them. I could switch back to cling wrap but I can get free Parafilm sometimes.
Never gave much thought to if my plates had vents or not before, anyone use non vented plates? Is that a thing? 😂
Thanks

Yeah, that's a four vent dish.
https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/7664006 (The copypasta in the OP regarding particles rarely going up and over the dish comes from Tritech Research.)

I've never used them personally, but as I understand non-vented and single-vented dishes are typically used for growing anaerobic shit.

This is precisely why I use glad instead of para. I hate those little tears. Also, glad is cheaper and I find it easier to use.

Ahh makes sense. To be honest I've always noticed my plates said "vented lids" and I figured this is what it meant but I never really gave it any more thought, thanks !

I'm glad to hear it's not just me! This happened to me like last September and I chalked it up to a stale roll or something and switched back to cling wrap. But my sister works in a laboratory and brought me up some free Parafilm and media bottles and stuff so I started using it again. I use 3 or 4 squares and wrap around the dish at least a couple times, and it's not like I'm yanking it super tight or anything.
Guess I'll go back to cling wrap. No time for this hassle .
Thanks!
