If you want better genetics the best thing to do is start working with agar. Put the spores to agar and then transfer a tiny bit of the best looking myc, let it grow out a bit and transfer again. The more you do this the better myc youll get but for your first few times 2 transfers is enough to make sure you have a clean sample
Interesting... I've already started doing some agar work with other strains, but this was my first B+ grow. So if I wanted to reproduce the monster, you think it would be more effective to start with its spores and do transfers rather than just growing from cloned tissue?
If you want immediate results with that fruits characteristics, cloning is best... if you wanted to isolate that fruits characteristics so that an MS grow would give you mostly that fruits characteristics throughout the grow, you’d grow that fruits spores out and select a fruit that has those characteristics and keep doing that until an MS grow produces mostly those characteristics (phenotype)

No you want to clone the tissue to agar. Even then your not getting a true isolate of that fruit but a closer genetic sequence of the genes present in that big old Chode. And btw that is a big one and nice for an early bird. Hopefully the rest of the pinset catches up to it. That would make a really nice Shoe Box. I would also print it and work on those spores later.
(Edit) Well this was supposed to be a reply to the OP but Fahts got them fast fingers so,

Update! Veil broke this morning so I harvested, weighed, took my print and agar clone and put the remaining pieces in the dehydrator. 25 grams wet -- not so bad! It was sad ripping such a beautiful fruit in half for the tissue sample, but I'm taking solace in the fact that I'll see more of him when I grow out the clones. Thanks for the advice, everyone.
