Do people clean their oats?

So following bids oat prep tek, I don’t recall seeing anything talking about cleaning the oats. While the oats were cooking it looked like the water was dirty, so I was thinking they may need to be cleaned? I was going to pressure cook them like now, but I was thinking maby I’ll rinse them really well with super hot water, then let them dry really well and PC tomorrow?
I boiled them last night, sitting in pressure cooker since.

Uhhhh, you boiled them last night and the've been sitting in the pressure cooker since? I assume you cooked them in the PC but didn't sterilize them right? If that's the case I would assume they're really really saturated and need a good drying off before going in the PC - paper towel test is my go to No need to "clean" them, I have seen sock likes to strain them prior to initially cooking them though, but he even says that it's an optional step.

Yeah I clean the shit out of mine but would never tell anyone it's necessary. I even put a couple drops of detergent In and whisk them up. I've got my reasons but nothing I'll preach.😎

I mean I emptied the water out so they’re probably pretty dry. I might just PC them without a clean this time? Or should I just use steaming hot water, and hope they dry fast enough to PC tonight. I mean even if I cleaned them tonight, snd let them dry for tomorrow then PC Tom that’d be ok huh?

If they're dry enough to PC, just do it now imo and clean them the next go around if you so desire

Ive rinsed them before and didnt really notice a difference. Maybe theres a bit less starch? The oats i get are "triple cleaned" but they aint and are still dirty and full of bugs.
I just measure out whats needed and boil without the wash.

Don't use oats. Bought three 40 # bags of wild bird seed dirt cheap in the early spring, and am set until next winter.
Can't stand cats in the house, either. (Been there, done that.) Turn 'em loose in the great wild outdoors -- so long as they still have their claws, they'll catch something to sustain themselves.

I pour em straight into the pot, boil, strain, dry for about 3-5 hours, and then load jars/ PC.

What ingredients does your wbs contain? I was just about to try wbs (millet milo & sunflower seed) I was planning on rinsing to hopefully get the majority of sunflower seeds out.
I just thought the milo & millet in wbs would be a great master g2g jar for bigger grains like oats and rye.
