Don’t think I labeled it incorrectly, but there’s always a chance lol. I’ll find out eventually I hope, put it to grain jar last night.

Thanks for all the input, I’m new, these were my first gourmet clones. So I can learn, what makes you think this is oyster? I see similar pinning when googling, Google image search. Thanks in advance just trying to gain some knowledge!

During my last attempts at growing Cordyceps, I learned that single ascospore isolate (liquid culture from 02/2021) can be kept much longer alone without senescence than crossed. The substrate was completely colonized by a single ascospore culture then I inoculated with a clone (degenerated) then placed in fruiting conditions. I'm happy with the result, I took a few clones on agar and I'm going to try to isolate more single ascospore.
Here is the degenerate clone alone:

Here, full colonization with different old single ascospore (2021) then add the degenerate clone or ms from this clone:

The best cross exceeds 100% BE. 27g of rice per container:

Today's total harvest:

I was hesitant to order a new liquid culture, I did well to try to use these old single ascospore isolates from the fridge.

Really cool. Where did the single ascospore isolate come from?

I purchased a fruiting culture from William Padilla Brown in 2020 (and two more from Jeff Manganaro in 2021). From this culture I isolated around forty single ascospores which I tested and I kept the 8 which gave me the best results. Of these 8, 4 are still vigorous (2 years and 7 months old). I am really surprised because cultures able of fruiting (2 single ascospore compatible mixed together) degenerate very quickly in general (in 3 to 6 months). I isolated the spores on water agar with a Cordyceps fixed on the lid with petroleum jelly. I don't have a microscope to confirm spore isolation so I tested each spore on a small substrate (in test tubes): - if it produces fruiting, it is not an isolated spore but several. - if it doesn't fruit then it is either several incompatible spores or successful isolation. Then I tested different isolates that did not fruit alone but fruited together. This gave me testers that I called "+" and "-". Now, when I isolate a spore, I try to make it fruit alone, with a "+" tester and with a "-" tester. Another thing that lets you know that the isolation was successful is the particular appearance of each culture on agar.

This was a test but yes it's brown rice + a nutrient solution, all sterilized for 45 minutes then inoculated with a liquid culture. Cultivation is done without opening the container until harvest (approximately 55-60 days after inoculation)

Little update from my small grow. These g. Sessile are starting to form pores and maybe are conking out? Is that unusual for reishi to do?

I don't see any pores but I could be wrong. Can you take a zoom photo on it? My Reishi also made some kind of balls at the beginning:

do you mean that you mate single ascospore with a clone on agar then fruiy it or what?

In this photo it looks more like pores. My reishi have also formed some but they have not produced spores yetQuote:

I inoculated a brown rice substrate with a single ascospore isolate and about 15 days later I inoculated the completely colonized substrate with the liquid culture of the clone. I then waited 5 days before putting it into fruiting condition. The substrate became much more orange after adding the clone.
