I really cranked up my exhaust fan to bring in more air and the pinks really got some big flappers now! It’s in my garage so it’s not perfect but it makes a difference.

Reishi udapte : -in the sgfc, Reishi go to touch the wall soon :

-monotub (dubtubed):

-mini mono (dubtubed) and two aloe vera cutting trials:

-monotub contaminated: I put 1/4 inch of coarse salt on the entire surface of the substrate and alcohol but the green reaper will win, some reishi are starting to have green spots.

Hey all, first time growing golden oysters and doing first run on this new fruiting tent. Any thoughts on these? Seem quite small and low yield, maybe needs more air?

More air is better but golds are often a bit smaller no matter what. Really just depends on the culture.

Thanks, this last flush I put it a bit closer to the light and let it go a bit longer. Caps opened up and got a bit bigger.
This aspen oyster seems to be stretching? Haven’t seen an oyster grow like this before.

Looks like they're growing thru a high co2 environment. Interesting species, what made you choose Aspen oyster?

I saw it on terrestrialfungi and thought i'd give it a try
I just recently decided to get into more gourmets and medicinals and went on a shopping spree. Have nearly 50 new species i've never grown. I have an etsy shop I've used to sell extra cacti cuttings and misc. stuff in the past and thought i'd get into offering LC, spawn, etc. for some side income (or even main income if it evolves into that).
It actually looks like I may have a new job though, so not sure how much time i'll have to still pursue the etsy shop. I'm going to be shadowing a friend of mine this week, and may be hired on as a lab tech for a local mushroom company.

Oh wow. So i just unboxed the co2 monitor I got and i'm reading 1500ppm in both my grow tent and my entire lab room. This is quite high for the lab room right?

hey, want to ask you thoughts guys. I grow a lot of species basicly on the master's mix and shiitake on sawdust/bran. All polypores (reishi, trametes, maitake) are grown on sawdust only. Sterilized all substrates the same way.
0 contamination rate on mixes and very high fails on straight sawdust (which is counterintuitive in my opinion it's less nutritious). I check the moisture content of each mix fanatically. On sawdust mycelium growing very rough and stall quickly. So when same sawdust are mixed with soy hulls or wheat bran it's totally okay. Sometimes it's going well like Reishi below.
What do you think could go wrong with sawdust only? I'll give it a try with pasteurization insted of sterilization, but generally have no idea

Where are you getting your sawdust. What kind of particle size is it? Could be a bad matrix causing the mycelium to use too much energy colonizing.
What kind of failure are you seeing? Incomplete colonization? Or mold appearing within the first couple weeks?

What's MCS? Do your black king take awhile to pin? My black king and king oyster blocks are way behind my other strains right now.
