It's amazing the spectrum of smells with mycelium from different mushrooms. Shiitake and pioppino smell terrible to me. Cubensis mycelium smells divine. Chestnut mycelium smells just like methaqualone. Weird stuff

I find cubes to smell like dirt  not my favorite. I love them smell of oyster mycelium. Almost like apple blossoms.

What about lions mane? Anyone's culture ever start to smell like sulfur? Mine have gone that way and it's bizarre. Look good and fruit well but the agar plates smell like sulfur

So, my first try with Cordy and from 5 Jars and one mini Mono, only 4 Jars had fruits and could be harvested. After harvest I checked the other which didn't fruit and looked like they may have gotten infected with some yeast, I dunno. But hey! For the first try I wouldn't say it's bad

Only 6.67gr but that's okay^^ Made a couple of swabs and hope to continue growing cordy in autumn again when temps get cooler.

I'll be interested in doing a trade for cordy cultures once I have done start to finish one more grow out of my spores / clones hoping to get consistent good flushes.

Happy seeing all these cordy grows nonetheless. It is actually pretty decent as a tea with honey.

I introduced my cordyceps jars to light last night. The hornworm pupas I infected still need more incubation time.
I know itโ€™s completely unnecessary to out invitro jars into this tote/fruiting chamber. I used that for the time I grew it in a shoebox and the lights are set up already.

On my first first Lions mane grow. One is fruiting in a bag that hasnโ€™t been opened for more FAE. Not sure if itโ€™s even fully colonized yet

Not allowed a tent (yet) so Iโ€™m going with the SGFC and so far seems to be working ok ๐Ÿคž
Lost 2 bags to mould unfortunately, thinking I need to up my pc time for sawdust, would that be right?

Looking at these LM fruiting blocks that youโ€™re all fruiting out, I realize I should probably fruit mine too. I keep forgetting that the block isnโ€™t going to turn a solid white ๐Ÿ˜‚. I guess my oysters, and turkey tail are prob ready too then. Iโ€™m going to try and harvest the oxygen starved fruit that is at the top of the block, and have it fruit again through the spot I cut. Iโ€™m out of space too, Iโ€™m currently 5wks into flowering my buds so no tent to use either. Iโ€™m always getting ahead of myself and having to catch up or just overdoing it. Looks like SGFC for me too.

Yeah it's hard to know when the lions mane blocks are ready to fruit. It looks a lot thinner compared to oysters.

But yeah go for it! Let us know how your grow goes!

Iโ€™ve read a few times to just fruit 7-10 days after spawning regardless, Iโ€™m sure that if your bags, spawn and conditions are on point that would be fine but my second batch of bags I prepped a little dryer and theyโ€™ve barely colonised at all and itโ€™s almost 7 days now  Live and learn.

My multi strain cordyces grow one week after being introduced to lighting to fruit. The different cultures changed colored at different rates and intensity. notice one set is still white, but from my experience with that culture, the pins and fruits are orange.
