I would keep the bag intact while fruiting so the moisture isn't evaporating so fast. Just cut an x or a gash from one side to another.

I didn’t know lions mane grew around here but I found one near my yard and put a sample to agar and it worked. Kind of a lumpy bugger but cool none the less.
Awesome! Excellent results from your work. Looks like bear head fungi.

Agaricus Bisporus "Portobello" Success! [Re: Farm3r]

Took about 3 months! Don't let that discourage anyone though... On average, fruiting conditions were probably 10*F cooler than they should have been. It was fruiting on cased spawn (1 quart) and the culture was isolated from a store bought portobello.
Agaricus mycelium is a completely different animal that all the other species I've worked with!! Fruiting on cased spawn was a way on testing if I had even isolated the proper thing. Trying some bulk substrate next (compost). It starts out fuzzy/cottony and as it ages seems to coalesce and become more rhizomorphic. The first picture is a picture of the substrate (wheat based spawn) and casing. When it first grew through, the ropy, rhizomorphic strands weren't there.
Now that I'm over the hump with this species, I'm kinda feeling like they aren't really that difficult to grow...

Nice. I would love to see you (or anyone) work with some of the more interesting agaricus, like blazeii or augustus
Some blacks that over colonized but are doing fine anyways.

I’m a new grower and chose to grow in reusable buckets do decrease plastic waste. I’ve been inoculating 2 buckets per week with Grey Dove Oyster mushroom grain spawn I purchased from Field and Forest. I now have 8 buckets. This is the first one to begin fruiting. I used 4 lbs of grain spawn per 5 gal bucket pasteurized wheat straw. I made my fruiting chamber tent with some greenhouse plastic and an 6ft folding table. I have a fresh air duct and fan coming in through a window, humidifier in the tent, LED t8 lights and a heater under the table. I’ve been keeping it at 90% humidity and around 60F in the fruiting tent. I have no exhaust fan yet I still need to add that. Also I’m thinking of moving the humidifier outside of the tent and ducting it in so it doesn’t get damaged by the high humidity. Any comments, advice criticism would be greatly appreciated!

It looks fine. Keep the humidity up while they're still so little. I like to keep the bag on until the pins are 1/2"-1" tall before opening the top of a king bag, just helps then develop in that high humidity environment.

Ok then should I mist a little bit ? RH is 85% in the FC.
I will wait a bit more before opening with my next bags.

If someone is paying their bills growing mushrooms that definitely qualifies a TC tag

I'd sure like to. I've made my own lions mane bag from agar and master's mix that worked out really well, but not oyster yet. I'm going to be moving pretty far away for a while so I made some agar slants for long term storage of both pearl oyster and lions mane mycelium. 🧪

Agaricus Bisporus, brunnescens, Portobello, cremini, button, baby bella, Champignon mycelium on agar example appearance [Re: deadmandave]

A close up example of what Agaricus Bisporus (Agaricus brunnescens, Portobello, cremini, button, baby bella, Champignon, etc. They are all the same species just different varieties) Mycelium looks like on Agar and in grain spawn.
I spent a lot of time looking for an example picture exactly like this one and never found one. Found a few (maybe) that had the "This picture has been deleted placeholder" but nothing that helped answered the question "is this what this is supposed to look like?"
This is for the next person looking.
The agar formula is Malt Extract Yeast Agar. The media influences the appearance to some degree. 20g Light Malt Extract, 2 grams nutritional yeast, 20 grams agar in 1000 ml.
It's not immediately obvious in the pictures, but there are some areas of brown coloration of the mycelium. This is not only normal, but characteristic of this species. Relatively speaking, it's not the fastest growing mycelium, at least not on agar or grain. Once in a bulk substrate, it seems to grown much faster.
In my experience, initially it's not rhizomorphic, but seems to coalesce and become more so over time.
Agaricus Bisporus Mycelium on MEYA

Agariuc Bisporus Mycelium on grain spawn. Overly Colonized...
