Hard to post this two posts down from stroms but first lions mane in the tent looking decent Had a couple large invitro fruit due to me not having the tent ready in time so surprised it’s putting out fruit so quickly.

Have a question for y’all. Anyone have a trick to getting air in the bag at spawn? I’m 50/50 on having a nice amount of air and being an empty pain in the ass to mix.
Edit: if anyone comes across this who uses zip ties to seal the bag I’ve found that you need to break up the vacuumed block of substrate while it’s open in front of the hood before you tie it off and it will stay filled with air. Leaving it compact before you seal seems to cause problems once you break it up and mix.
Also, as forrester mentioned the reishi starting to dry out even in the tent. Misted it a bit today so next time I’ll leave the walls of the bag up and see how that goes.

I scoot my bag toward the sealer a bit and kinda pluck it up. But the biggest difference by far was in upgrading to a 16" sealer. Absolutely worth it, makes mixing evenly a friggin breeze.

You guys aren't fans of kits but these are my first mushrooms so tough luck, lol.
Got the kit for under $10 and looks like a lot of shrooms.

Nothing wrong with those kits IMO. That's what I did as well. Put a clone of it on agar and you can grow more in the future.

May look into a sealer one day but I’ve been using releasable ties so I’m probably messing up and shooting the air out somewhere along the way as I seal them up.

I'm not sure what sort of bags you're using; ties with XLS bags might allow enough space to shake easily, but basically with ties you're going to be reducing the overall max potential volume of the bag vs sealing and esp vs straight sealing, which is going to make it harder to shake up. More volume in the bag (of course) makes it easier, so a straight sealer is going to be what makes it easiest. Even with the straight seal it's still a PITA if I forget to scoot and pluck my bags though. I'll add that I wish I'd bought a 16" right off the bat over a 12", too. I use my 12" for my spawn right now and 16" for my blocks (two separate locations), but I'd rather be using a 16" for both. But yeah they're stupid expensive but also very nice.
I guess if you're doing ties I'd just try to inflate/pluck the bag as much as I could before mixing and maybe consider larger bags, but larger bags are more expensive so you might want to run the cost analysis on ponying up for a wide sealer. I believe Shroomsisay uses zip ties successfully though so maybe he can offer better advice, just my $0.02. I friggin hate shaking tight bags though so I'm biased.

Thanks for the explanation AP. If I don’t get it sorted out on the remaining bags I have I may tinker around with a few different sizes for the next order and see how those play out.

Had a couple of Lions Mane grain jars in the fridge for 14 months, since 4/3/2021 that I wanted to see if I could restart. The first pic is a pre and post shake jar.

I used some of the shaken grain for a g2g, oats to wheat.
Also put a couple of grains on agar in case they need cleaning.
And here is 36 hours old, three days and 4 days old.

Also fixed thread title.

How are those coming along Rev? Interesting they held up that long in the fridge. Mine seem to get weird after a month or so but that could very well be poor spawn on my part.

Are these structures how lions mane sporulate or something else? Never seen this before. Still working on perfect harvest time as I’m sure y’all can tell haha. Looks like a couple of days ago would have been correct.

After six months away from home I finally have some mushrooms growing again. Not much but I'm still excited to be growing again.

I love reishi as well. Even tho I'm not nearly patient enough to grow it. This is like 2 months since spawn. TF05 from terrestrial fungi.

Pretty much unmodded tubs too that ill just fan like 1 time a week haha. They were old monos I just covered with masking tape.
