I'm talking about the bags of sawdust. I mix the spawn generously, but usually likes to fruit before 100%

Huh, well what do you do when you fruit them, cut slits?  Or do you cut those at spawning?

Just depends on what you're doing, but it's probably ok to just fruit like that unless they're supplement and you think whatever you're doing to fruit them is gonna expose them to a big contamination risk before they colonize the rest of the way.

I cut slits, yes. I supplement so worry slits before 100% wil cause contam.

I know exactly what you're talking about taku. Here's one of my lion's mane bags, doing exactly that. Only the top half of the bag is fully colonized, but it's popping out little balls of lion's mane already. Going to cut some slits and tape down the plastic.

I have a bag doing the same but no way I'm cutting it early. It's master's mix.

Oh well I'll get a coral fruit on top and induce fruiting when the bag is colonized.
Should I shake it or let it ride?

For what it's worth I just pick the top fruit off before putting in my FC.i don't shake it, though maybe that would help.

That bag looks fully colonized to me.  LM mycelium is very thin/wispy, you're not looking for that thick whiteness like other species, just colonization, which that bag totally has other than that wet part stuck to the bag on the right of pic1.

I get that. Sometimes though it's clearly not colonized, you can see the leading edge of the growth and there's large portions not colonized. That said, I'll try playing around with putting into FC and see if I can find a balance between top fruit and contam.

My wild oyster bags are close. Seems like they're kinda knotty looking around the older colonized grains. Not sure why that is. Doesn't seem to be contams.

What happened with those? I had something very similar I posted about recently and figured they were contaminated. Have a couple jars with the same thing happening currently that I’m watching to see what happens.

Gonna spawn these, but what do ye veterans have to say about the spots?

I don't see anything to worry about.  Might be a little bacteria but oysters don't care.

Sweet, I'm gonna work on the agar some more for more spawn. These 6 bags are gonna go into my soy hull hwfp bags. After that I'll try my wheat bran then the rice bran. Just gotta prep the mix and load the 150L. Gonna restock on wheat tomorrow.

Blue Oyster on Lipa Tek Fuel pellets.

Been so long since I’ve grown these. Should I cut more slits? (Currently just the one).

One slit will do fine as long as it's big enough. Those need more air though, not enough produces longer stipes. Give them some fae, oysters can't have too much.

You’re wild Quirk  Hope those all flush out beautifully and I can worry a bit less about those spots. The jar I left to watch consolidated nicely into what appears to be one giant rock of cocaine. Might lay it on its side outdoors tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks for the updates!

Lion's mane, about 1 week after slitting the bag. Sitting in my living room above my houseplants. I've been gently misting them 2-3 times per day.
