Yeah from my somewhat limited experience with kings, I did find it advantageous to prune the pinsets.
80% of them would usually abort themselves anyway, then from the remaining ones left growing I would cut off all but like the 2-3 biggest ones. Otherwise you just get a bunch of really small kings.

I know the pictures suck what you expect with a 40 dollar phone, but I think these are my first ever oyster pins confirmation?

Hedgehog mycelium with sclerotia forming (alongside contaminant) on unfiltered brf agar. All my T1s were clean (as well as my clone dishes) but I had an angry SAB session lol
First run of a wild clone from this year coming out pretty darn nice. Sometimes you win. 1.5qt on 4.5gal unsupplemented spruce, birch, and willow chips/dust.
2gal novelty reishi coming along nicely. Coffee tables are made for antler jars...

Damn! Everything about this post is awesome. What's up with the hedgehogs? Are they mycorrhizal?

Thanks man! They are indeed mycorrhizal. They can be introduced into an appropriate locations with fairly high success though, IME. Year two of my introduced patch here and finally getting smatterings of backyard fruits here and there...

The populations here have a relationship to birch trees. Somewhere wet. Really wet if possible. They tend to naturally grow in flat areas with a good mix of groundcover (here it's ferns, horsetail, grasses, etc) at the bottom of hills where water drains off. Thry love growing under thick horsetail because they love that WET microclimate. Thinking about doing a write up at some point but I have to plug several photo gaps...

I thought I had fucked up my Poplar Oyster bags so I put them outside by a tree and ripped some holes in the bags and forgot about them until today:

Not going to get much but I'm surprised that they even pinned.

I bet after this first little flush you get an explosion with that constant fresh air exchange outside. IME they can be finicky about FAE and do way better outdoors. Jealous af. Been looking for a wild specimen here to play with for a couple years now but haven't seen them out my way. Oh and congratulations on your flush Kane What are you making with them buggers?

Nice! Can't wait for my pinks to fill in. The shiitake were sitting in a hot car in their bag for a little too long before I got my fruiting chamber set up but I think they'll make it. I was surprised they started pinninng so much really, kinda makes me wonder if just _any_ shock to them sets it off.

Bag to bag with these XLS bags is hard, might build a trap door type set up into my table just for that. too close to the danger zone otherwise
