I heard a rumor that if you do 100% bran, the mushrooms grow limbs and break out of your fruiting chamber...

I dont think your choice of supplement can cause genetic mutations, everything just looks dry dry dryyyy (lots of splitting on the caps). Your grey doves arent happy so they arent going to the next stage of pinning for some reason. What are your temps and humidity? Where you trying to grow all these?

Yeah those aren't mutants that's just what oysters look like. And that blob might be just a pin that dried out before you could really tell it was oyster.

The oysters on mi signature where fruited in the same setup as the pictures i posted now... i know conditions can be better but something is wrong with this oysters.
So if 50% supp doesnt cause mutants, why people use just 20? For mi bran is a lot cheaper and easy to get.
I have another 9 bags with 30 bran now, will post how they go.

That looks a lot like Lions mane???
Forrester, Are you saying this is an aborted oyster? I guess that hericium usually wouldn't grow on straight straw though.

Yeah the blue/grey oyster strains can look really weird like that sometimes, right before they get color and turn to multiple mushrooms.
This is a bucket I day way back, look close at the real small ones.

Cut the tops off the king oyster bags. Have them in the FC at 85% and 68-71 degrees

Really sorry, but the wording is still ambiguous to me. Are you saying you put 1 quart of spawn which is extra full, or that you add an extra jar, to make 2 quarts, and also that your jars are more full than typical?

I use 1 jar of grain spawn/bag.
The jars are filled with more than the usual amount of grain, It's not a considerable difference in volume but it's what I do.
Just picked up a speed controller:

Prune?! I may need to look into this, I get a ton of aborts from crazy pin sets, figured just them being difficult.
Anyone worked with wine caps. Had similar looking grain colonize master mix and put in an outdoor bed. Just not comfortable with how moldy it looks...

I've grown wine caps, they have typical looking mycelium. How did the bed turn out? They're super easy to grow.

The only reference photos I've found are tomentose like I've always had. It colonizes slower then I'd like but last year the 10lbs spawn smelled amazing.
The bed was spawned last fall. In the spring there was myc running it. Threw some grass seed for cover which didn't really take off. Now there's gourds in there for companion? Hoping for fall fruits.
