Hey Felliz! Thanx for saying hello. All is well on my end. I’ve got a bunch of good stuf going on. I’ve got a 64qt tub of Lizard kings pumping out it’s second/ third flush. It’s hard to say because it’s been like continual. Also when I harvested it The roots of the fruit went so deep into the substrate it destroyed it. So what I did was I broke it all up evenly, not all the way to the bottom but just the top layer and then I smooth it all out and spritz the hell out of it and bottom watered it and it’s just been randomly pumping out fruit. I think the lizard king is going to be the variety of cube that I work with. I really like the fruits and how they grow. I do not like skinny stems!  Especially when trying to clean the substrate off the bottoms of them once dry! I’ve also got my PE tubs left over from back before the shut down of the Shroomery. Getting those to produce a second flush has been very challenging. I don’t know why. I can’t figure it out?? They finally are but very minimal. Besides that I have got one giant 64 quart PE I just spawned  two days ago. I’ve also got one 32 quart of golden mammoth, one 32qt of Tasmanians, one 32qt of Brazilians One shoebox of PE, and a shoebox of LK’s second/third ongoing flush.  So that’s what I got going on in a nutshell. I also bought some sorghum. I was chatting with these people from agar addicts. And looking at this dude plates it seems to be one of the better nutes. We will see. The reason why I switched is because I’m trying to isolate my lizard kings and the only thing that will grow on my light malt extract medium is tomentose mycelium. I can’t get it to switch over to rizomorphic even after four transfers.
What do you guys have going on??? Thanks for saying hello. That means a lot to me guys. Looking forward to resuming our correspondence, conversation, knowledge, and our common bond.

Ergot Ernie
PS...do either of you know what the ergot is? Just curious.:heart:

The LSD ergot?

You can also use a scissors to cut the fruits off the sub at the surface level so you don’t tear your subs up.

Excited to see your future grows Ern.

Good morning Faht. You are reading my mind I actually went on to Amazon and looked at hundreds of pairs of scissors and I bought a small pair of pruning snips and a skinny curved pair of surgical precision scissors. They are both sharp and do the job however the pruning snips are a little bulky and the scissors would work well if I could get my thumb in the hole where your finger goes! LOL either I got fat thumbs are these made for girls or dwarfs. Lol. As always thank you for your advice Faht. Much love and many blessings Brutha, as I stated I look forward to resuming our correspondence. I very much enjoyed it.

Hey Faht! I’ve got a 64qt tub that I spawned on 4/22. It’s been cased twice and has tightened up but I’m still not seeing and pinning or Knotting going on. It’s been 2 weeks. I didn’t write down the grow time with my last PE tubs and of course I’m starting to thing something is wrong. Watcha think sensei? Hope you e been well, happy, and healthy. Miss our conversations. Look forward to hearing from you Brutha.

Hey Ern!  Sorry, I saw this and got distracted and forgot about it.  Do you have a pic?  PE usually starts pinning around the 3 week mark, so you should be seeing something soon.  Excited to see more grows from ya

I knew they were slower than the rest but I actually forgot that it takes three weeks. I’ve been getting lots of Tritch lately on my second flushes. Two got it on its first. I have far from ideal growing conditions and seeing I’m a gardener/landscaper and that particular fungus lives in soil all around us I’m guessing I’m the host who keeps tracking it into my quarters. I go thru lots of Lysol and ozium air sanitizer lol. I’ve got to try to combat all the spores I track in some how! Here is the pic you asked for. Thanx for getting back to me. I really miss all the conversations I used to have on here. I guess I could try to help some noobies and offer up what info I know to be correct. Afterall it is my duty to help carry the torch as you all did for me.

PE spawned on 4/22, cased twice and patched once. It’s tight now and has knots.

Thanx for the quick response bud. It looks like it’s about to start pinning right?? In you opinion?  Well once I start running my AC I’m hoping it’ll help. If you remember I have to grow these in my quarters of the sober house so I don’t have much wiggle room. So ya, does it look like it’s about to start pinning? Is the pic clear enough or do you want me to try for a better shot?

It’s a bit blurry zoomed in but it does look like it’s about to give up the goods.

A/c does help some but I think it has a lot to do with the increased mold spores in the air.. air purifier is a good addition if you have the loot for one but I just opt for the time off.  If you kind of keep in mind that things tend to get this way this time of year, you can keep yourself from getting too discouraged when stuff does go south.

Very good advice. It’s kind of like the old saying...”knowing is half the battle” you can find some level of acceptance in this situation and mentally prepare yourself. Here is a picture of my golden mammoth’s. This is my second tub of them. I don’t know why they’re called mammoth!? Because there’s nothing mammoth about them! Lol. I’m going to take another pic of the PE tub.

This one’s a little more clear or clearer… Which ever is grammatically correct LOL. Thanx Faht. Coincidentally as I took this picture I see some caps and pins forming. As always your assumptions in guidance was spot on!! Lol.

PS: I tried the golden mammoth with an unmodified tub. The reason being is the cover fits so loosely. It basically just sits on the top with the gap all the way around even though it has latches. I really prefer the gasket tubs.

Yes but I can’t stand dealing with small fruit. When it dries out, it dries down to nothing. And then when I try to clean off the substrate from the bottoms the stems break so it’s a real pain in the ass in my opinion.
Here’s a mind fuck for you Brutha. Can you explain to me how this particular mushroom grew inside of my penis in the tub. It’s a second flush and there’s just a couple of sporadic fruits coming up. It came from the same tub that I got that 112 g giant. But this does not look like a penis envy to me. If anything it looks like a lizard king or a golden teacher. How can a totally different looking mushroom grow. I mean penis envy is very distinct. I would sure love your expert opinion on this one. Here is the pic

What is this thing!?  And where did it come from!?

Oh boy do I have a trick for you that’s gonna blow your mind, Ern..

Quote:

Super Easy Cleaning
this is something that i just started doing... I think someone said it to me in passing and it may be here in the Archives  already but all you do is toss the freshly picked mushrooms into your drying device. Once they're dry, just put them into a large ziplock bag and seal the bag with some air still left in the bag. now just push and pull at the bag like mad. the mushies rub against each other knocking off the verm./casing  layer of your choice. once you are satisfied that the mushies are clean, just knead the bag a bit so that the dry flakes fall to one corner of the bag. then just remove your clean mushies. surprisingly, most if not all the mushies stay intact. it acts like a rock tumbler basically. for best results, do this a few times. thanks for the idea whoever told it to me. sure cuts back on the cleaning time... what used to take hours, now only takes 15 min.
I must add tho, this doesn't work very well for Popcorn  UNLESS you clean the 'stuck' kernals off the mushies before you put them in the drier. which i would recommend. at least for certain strains such as tex which for some reason are extremely adhered to their substrate  and will definately take a few kernals with them when they are picked.

  |
  V
A quick picture example here.. I'm using my one hand and my knee due to the picture taking, but normally you would just use both your hands to aggressively rub the bag and contents together..

^^^ that’s c/p from here from like 15 years ago when I use to do popcorn   Works like a dream.. makes cleaning ozs of fruits take like two minutes.

I answered ya in teds PE thread about the normie PE fruit but I’ll post it here too

Sometimes PE will “revert” to a normal looking fruit.. happens will most PE varieties.  Had these guys pop up in a second flush PE tub.

There’s a chance it’s another varieties’ spores getting into your agar from them floating around in your room but most likely just a “reverted” pheno

Thank you Faht! I can see that that would work pretty well with larger fruits. However when you have skinnier stems they are very fragile. You can barely pick them up without them breaking. That’s what I meant by I hate working with small fruit. It is why I am going to mainly grow lizard kings and penis envy from here on in. When I was brand new I didn’t know I was doing and I had no clue how much fruit can be produced with such little start up material. I must’ve purchased a half dozen or better liquid culture syringes, and at least a dozen or more MSS. So at one point I had so much going on that I could not really dial anything in. Just way too much. I still have the majority of what I bought. As you know with only one multi sport syringe you could basically cover the world and mushrooms.
I had such good luck with the lizard kings and I just love how they grow that I’m going to stick with those and penis envy. The penis envy just is the best! They blow my mind how big they get. Not to mention they will be teaching me patience because they take so long to do everything! Lol. I’ve got a couple of pics of my PEs I’m going to post over on Ted‘s page. Check them out if you’d like. One is a shoebox pretty much ready to be harvested and the other one is my 64 quart tub that is exploding with pins at various stages. Some are surface fruiting and some are subsurface fruiting. If I don’t get any contemns I believe it’s going to be a impressive harvest. Thanks again for the tip on the cleaning.
Much peace and love brother and God bless.

FAHTSTER, Did you not once tell me that PE like a lot of FEA? I know they all need it in, but does PE thrive better with more? Also because of their size and density I would assume they require a lot more water. Which brings me to another question. How come some of them grow thick and very solid while others can almost be hollow? How do I ensure that they all come out with that desired density?
Nobody likes a hollow shaft! Lol. Thanx Brutha. Carpe diem man!
Peace, love, and mycelium,
      Ernie Ergot

My latest progress on the 64 quart tub of PE. The pins just keep popping!
