1st Shoebox and a couple questions!

So my first GT shoebox seems to be coming along quite well! I imagine the fruits will be quite small but I know that's common with this variety.
One thing I've been wondering tho is how I can achieve even pin growth in subsequent grows. It seems some have either A) started growing long before others or B) have simply grown much faster than others. Is this something only genetic isolation can fix or is it controllable via conditions?
Peace and love, enjoy da shroom pics ✌️

Yeah, with cloning you should get more even flushes.

Strain isolation will definitely help but also try to nail FAE and humidity when you first introduce fruiting. CO2 and humidity drop (which triggers evaporation) are big pinning triggers and when done so on a fully colonized substrate it can trigger a larger, more even pin set, even with a ms syringe.

Definitely interested in the answer to this...
I've never had an even pinset with MS. I often harvest an MS first flush in 2 sections. With clones, it's always pretty even.
I've seen quite a few MS tubs with even pinsets. I remember seeing an old post about how to achieve it. I thought it was Mushboy, but I can't seem to find it now.
You have some great looking clusters there; good clone candidates, but everything look pretty dry IMO. I would maybe mist or water down on the sides

Even pinsets can happen from ms. It`s a combination of best possible conditions, and making an even surface as good as possible. Of course if you have a million different strains in there, they won`t look all the same. But yeah, these are looking great. Some candidates to clone there

Hey Fuddlewuddle, I am fairly new to this forum, but have been reading quite a lot. I have the same "problem" as the Op, you talk about introducing fruiting conditions, but I thought the general consensus is that no more separation between fruiting and colonization is necessary. And one more question in general, how does someone dials in FAE with a shoebox?

Just look for right moisture content, nothing more to dial in. Set and forget.

I don't think small fruits are characteristic of GT. They might be small, medium, large or huge. Usually bigger fruits come on later flushes, but I just got a first flush with big ones with thick stems, which surprised me.

It's not a consensus, but it is what many people are doing now.

What I found to help moisture content of my shoeboxes was keeping them in a monotub. I don't have a dedicated grow room, so I think that resulted in a lot of draft causing some evaporation from them. (constant opening of doors, accidental ceiling fan power on, house ac or heat being turned on)
I tried keeping some in a monotub until about the time of pinning and they seemed to do much better. At the time of pinning you could take them out of the mono and fruit as normal with the lid on. Or you could leave them in the mono and pull the lids off. (I'd only pull the lids off if you have 3 boxes in your mono. It'd probably dry out if you only have one going a time)

I found that my shoeboxes also dry out quite a bit during colonization.. Will definitely give the monotub idea a try.
Thanks Doobsker!
