Deli/ketchup/sauce container/ petri alternatives

Soi want to make the switch from petris because they're expensive and I would like to do no pours maybe. I was looking at pastyplates and Josexs plates and holy grail. But can I use these? https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07TK3NBLQ/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=A3NXFKWBP0FBOM&psc=1 And do no pour in them? I've seen someone on YouTube use them right out the package.. and I know people have poured into zip locks outside the box.but I dont necessarily want to do that... or could I? Ide like to pour into these containers then sterilize. I'm also open to sterilizing separately then pouring.. if they're going to need a relief with the agar in the container during sterilization..? I like the holy grail and pastys deal, I just go throughalot of plates, and have alot on hand. So I need the room and I guess more than anything I dont want to add a washing deal into my process. If I cant work this out I'll probably do holy grail if the washing time outweighs the petris cost or stay with dishes. And I would need like 150.. Im just torn between all the teks I suppose.
And honestly the more I type I I might just go holy grail. But I figured ide ask if I could use those deli containers. The holy grail containers are just a little pricey and I would have to sterilize them with a little more effort and space. But i do have a 55 gallon drum steamer vessel too that I was hoping I could utilize maybe. Also I wondering if the delic containers would hold up better in a steam sterilization, no pressure.
I know this is kinda spread out. But I'm torn. Halp

Crack I've read that a couple times actually, I justdint want to take the time to poke a hole andtape.. could I avoid this by just pcing them separately then pouring? Put all the containers in a jar then open in front of flow?
Seldom, those are way too big for me, I work with a few different species regularly and also keep a fair amount of backstock on hand for seasonal changes.. I wonder if I could just take some out and reseal the dish?

Copy that, they're definitely on the larger side. The lid stays pretty good through at least of few pc cycles...definitely able to reseal in that sense.

I've heard of people pouring them like petri's straight out of the packaging with good success rates. Haven't tried it myself though.

I might try it. Got a buddy who only uses ziplock so.. and these should be a little more stackable. I'll try and do a thread for it maybe. Surprised none has a test on here for it. If it doesn't work I'll probably PC them separately and pour.

Celltreat w/ grip ring?
Sandman can you do nopours in those glasspetris? Why dont you just put them in the PC to sterilize them rather than the oven?

Because they get damp in the PC. Besides the clarity it also sometimes makes the plates stick together from surface tension causing grief.
I dunno about no pouring glass plates, I want to say you can't but then some rascal will come in saying how they've done it that way since the beginning of time lol. I wouldn't.

He oven sterilizes first cuz they come out dry from the oven.
I do no-pour in glass petris. They come out moist, but I don't wrap my plates, I use ziplock sandwich baggies, so it doesn't matter. They are dry in a couple days. I can't understand using anything that doesn't let you perfectly see the agar.

Those look nice seldom. I can't imagine using anything besides petris after I switched from pasty plates. I've never had ones with rings might have to try next case I buy

yo ladysknight, i've been trying out no pour glass petris lately. i love the look & visibility, but i'm using ziplocks too. can you reuse the same ziplocks without risk of contams over the long term? or do you put the plates into new ziplocks for every batch? i'd prefer to not have to throw out a bunch of plastic baggies if i can help it

I use new ones for each plate, buying zips in bulk. But you're right, it's wasteful. Make us a ziplock sterilizing Tek!

I once poured ziplocks.
It worked. But there are problems, gotta be careful not to cut through and whatnot.

ahh see, i want to do no pour so i'm not always throwing shit away! no judgement of course, but it would be nice to have them be fully reusable like pasty plates. wrapping w seran wrap is doable but i personally fucking hate seran wrap lol

They help you grip the petri, and they fit together better I feel. I went cheap this last time and got celltreat without the ring and I regret it now. Once you use them you won't wanna go back to ones without them.

another rascal jumping in lol, i've been using them for a bit now too- once i realized i had to store them in ziplocks or wrap them they have been totally fine. you totally can, a lot of people just don't really like them for some reason. they were a bit cumbersome at first but after watching how people cut from actual petris they've been very usable, the most annoying part is dealing with the ziplocks but as agar plates they work really well. but people who prefer pouring to no pours, it makes sense that they'd just pour into disposables & not have to fuck around with it. just different preferences but the glass plates look really nice imo & i just didn't wanna be throwing away petris all the time

You don't need to wash no pours, from my tek:
Quote:
CLEANING THE PLATES AFTER USE Due to the fact that these containers are rather rigid, they won't allow to squeeze out the agar puck, like you can do with glad mini rounds for instance. Instead, I take my scalpel and detach the puck from the very edge using the tip of the blade. The puck comes out easy and quick and weird enough, I find it to be a strangely satisfying task.
Then I wipe down the cup and the lid with a dry paper towel and that's it, no washing necessary. Then, snap the lid on and store the empty containers like that for later use.
Those kind of containers you posted are no good for agar, look for something sturdier. You can find some pointers in my tek as to what to look for and where. Wasted good money and time in the past buying bad quality containers that looked just like those.
Also, sandman posted something the other day in this that I found interesting and useful:
Quote:
sandman420 said:
PP deli cups come in two types. Blow molded and injection molded. These thin ones are blow molded and the thicker ones are injection molded, as are glad cups etc. So you can include injection molded in your search to come up with thicker ones. Here are some larger but much thicker ones https://www.amazon.com/Karat-FP-IMDC12-PP-Injection-Molded-Containers/dp/B07MCFCL1L
I'd give that thread a read too. It was made recently and it pretty much covers your questions. I think the OP in that thread even posted the same containers you linked to in the OP.

The thin containers age fast and start cracking after the 2nd or 3rd pc run. I find the clear plastic is most often the thin flimsy type that are blow molded.
