Tubing through LC jar and lid with screw on luer lock port
    #27306654 - 05/13/21 06:18 AM (3 years, 8 months ago)

I've seen a few people using a silicone tubing that runs from the bottom of the jar to the lid, and there is a screw in port for a luer lock or syringe.

This is exactly what I need, but I don't know how to make it.

I'm guessing it's a mixture of a few of the items on this page:

https://www.coleparmer.co.uk/c/luer-fittings?N=314302575+2252466114&Ne=150797373&No=24&Nrpp=24&Ns=P_ItemSortCPUK%7C1&format=json&rgn=P_ISUEU&rlg=en-US&uty=dflt

If anyone uses these or is able to make sense of putting the products on that page together, it'd be really really appreciated. I think I read a comment mentioning something about a screw on male port, so possibly this and tubing is all that's needed?

Hey I happen to be an seasoned vet on overcomplicated LC lids https://componentsupplycompany.com/product-pages/polypropylene-luer-fittings.php they also have polycarbonate fittings which are a little tougher https://componentsupplycompany.com/product-pages/polycarbonate-luer-fittings.php. And thn stainless ones if you wanna spend ome real coin.

FYI free pouring is where I ended up after years of top shelf LC lids.

Lol, cheers mate.

I'm in the UK, do you know which products on this page I'd need?

https://www.coleparmer.co.uk/c/luer-fittings

I have a short hood, G2G has failed many times for me but LC with syringe works. I feel like a jar pouring LC is the same as G2G. The syringe is super quick, flame sterilised, the syringe doesn’t get near the opening and I can close the bag in good time. That's why, until I get more space for a bigger hood.

Probably, and I'll give it a go sometime. But I really just want this luer fitting and tubing set up for now.

LPP-FBT-125 is the part that is female luer to tubing. Comes with a nut even though it says it doesnt.

You should be aware that putting the syringe onto the port and drawing causes a huge amount of torque on the fitting. Occasionally some of my ports would loosen up and break the silicone adhesive. I tried JB weld which is tougher but still sometimes it would break free from the lid and be all twisty and loose.

I didnt use tubing on the fittings, just tilted. Tubing gets in the way of stir bar.

Thanks man, I appreciate it a lot. Tubing is a good point. I'll figure something out for that.

As for the port loosening, maybe making the hole barely big enough so that the port can be squeezed through tightly, the silicone will make it air tight rather than holding it in place, so there shouldn't be any pressure on the silicone? It's how I stopped my syringe filters moving around.

The nut behind it holds most of the force but it gets overcome by twerking the syringe around on it. This was an occasional nuisance running dozens of LCs.
