Big ol' fuzzy feet in shoeboxes, not sure how else to increase FAE

Currently fruiting my second 6q shoebox of Mazatapec and I'm consistently getting these large, fuzzy-looking bases.

I read that this is often due to low FAE, so I've made an effort to fan at least a half-dozen times per day (perhaps more) and seen no changes. Other than modifying my tubs (which I am reluctant to do), what else can I do? Is it possible this is something other than an FAE issue?

It is often genetics. Unless the fuzz is coming up onto the caps, I would not worry about it. My Purple Mystics do that even if I have the lid all the way off. Do you have the lid flipped?

Even myc growing on caps can be genetic, some of my malabar does that even if I remove the lid for a couple hours a day and shit dries out and caps start to Split. So I never worry about it, and just let it go. Looks pretty good to me.

That's very interesting. Thank you.

Until this morning, yes I did. Now I've switched to a dub-tub for height.

Thanks for the response! I'll probably stop worrying then.

That's crazy; I didn't even know this could happen. Got any pics of it?

Not sure which exact 6qt tubs you are using but I use the kind with a purple latch and with the lid flipped over, or when dub-tubbing, I get the following gaps:

The gaps are 1/4" high and 3.5" long and exist on each end of the tub. The rest of the lid lays perfectly flat against the tub without any gaps. I have run a lot of side by side tests and found this to be the most FAE you would EVER need for a shoebox. It keeps the inside at 85% humidity too.
And here's one of my grows that shows fuzzy feet:

It's really not a problem.

You can stop worrying about it and carry on.
If you can increase FAE without struggling to keep the humidity high, go for it. If you can't, then just live with the fuzzy feet. It's not hurting anything and in many cases can't be eliminated without the boxes rapidly drying out. Here you either ignore fuzzy feet or the subs turn into croutons.

Where if you're alone, you know, you either come through it or you die, but in any case you avoid the fuss.'"
