anyone sterilize spawn in a turkey bag in the pressure cooker???

Ive had on and off luck with spawning to bulk so im trying to be extra cautious as to not waste time or money. the spawn is always fully colonized but when i spawn to the substrate i have around 50/50 or less luck with non contaminated tubs. I boil 1 gallon of water and add it to a brick of coco coir slowly and then add one quart of vermiculite about 5 minutes later and then mix up thoroughly with gloves and a stainless steel large spoon. Needless to say everything is wiped with alcohol. Then I let it sit overnight and then spawn the next day.
My spawn method is to do it in a very clean bathroom that has no carpet, been wiped clean with alcohol, and i even go as to run a ozone generator to help kill bacteria. I layer the colonized rye then the substrate and back and forth until i get to my desired level. It then gets put away for about two weeks and i then check to see if its good or bad. Where along this line is the most likely culprit for introducing contaminants? So now im wondering if i should put the substrate into a turkey bag and sterilize it in the pressure cooker for two and a half hours the following day. Please leave some thoughts and input, thanks

You don't need to layer your spawn, just mix it all in thoroughly. You don't need to sanitize your environment or do any special cleaning. Spawn in open air in a regular room. Your time will be better spent concentrating on and perfecting your prep and technique.
You can't use a turkey bag for grain spawn, it will melt, but even if it didn't it doesn't have a gas exchange filter patch so that your mycelium can breathe filtered air.

that makes sense with the turkey bag, i was wondering if it would melt or if it could take the heat. Ive tried to find methods to help increase my odds but I seem to be at stuck around that halfway point. what would you change or spend more time doing? I soak the grains for 24 hrs, boil and then simmer with the grains, then pressure cook in spawn bags. Then try really carefully to move the air slowly in a nice clean bathroom when i spawn.

I would start with your spawn. Your culture is likely not as clean as you suspect it to be, or your technique may not be as good as it could be or both. Spawning will not be the issue.
Make sure that your pc is properly vented before starting the cycle, make sure that your bags and or jars are not compromised, and lastly make sure that you're not prepping your grain and bulk sub in the same vessel (pot, bucket, etc).
If you're soaking grains in the same bucket you prep your sub n you'll be cross contaminating and introducing non sterile, nutrient rich material for contamination to consume.

never thought that the same bucket could potentially be an issue, I do wash them really good and dry and give them a alcohol bath in between each step. i read the other post that was talking about the different things to consider and it gave me some ideas, but i really would like to pinpoint the area of error that is causing me to have below good results

It takes time and lots of attention to detail. I find it helpful to have a starting point though:
Narrow down the source of contamination by attacking each issue methodically.
1. Grain prep 2. Sterilization cycle and vent time 3. Technique 4. Clean/ efficient culture 5. Conditions (post spawn criteria)
These 5 things, in that order will make or break your grow. If you're having any issues whatsoever it will lay with one of those criterion being off. Keeping this in mind will help you focus your efforts and troubleshoot effectively.
Nail each one and you'll have an excellent grow.
Check out the clean spawn checklist in my signature, perhaps that will help.

hahahha ironically that was the post i read before i posted this. and thank you for making a checklist, ill start by paying more attention to each step and working on it until i find my problem or eliminate it and get better success rates
