Is all you need to do I remove the cover?
Is there not a concern that the contam would spread to the room?
And would you go for a second flush as well ?

This one?

That was mine, I don't think it was sporulating Trichoderma.
But it was nasty looking so I just let it go, and what a surprise.

Until the fruits started coming up, I had a paper towel as a filter
screwed on with the mason jar ring and sprayed moist.
It looks like I put a layer of coir on top also.

That's the coffee table in our living room and it was very entertaining.
No second flush, it was just for fun.

Shaking bacterial jars never makes the situation better. Shaking weakens the culture and allows the bacteria to take over, causing them to stall. They may recover if the infection isn't too heavy but still.

Let them colonize, if they gully colonize then top fruit, or, if you have a yard perhaps run a small outdoor patch.

Do not toss these yet!

Let that keep growing and see what happens. You can always toss them later but honestly that looks completely fine

It's hard to tell if the grain is just pushing on the glass to make it look slightly strange but regardless let those dudes keep going and judge them again later

For those new growers reading this who might be wondering why you say that they are suspect, could you offer some knowledge?

Jar 2

Bottom left of the jar has Grey hazy discoloration that looks like it might be mold to me. But other than the grains being dry the white mycelium looks ok. A little spikey which usually is an indicator of bacterial contamination. But I have totally spawned worse. Just reset your expectations and hope for the best. I wouldn't dump those jars yet.

I am in the Shake it Camp. See what happens!

That second jar in particular:

Top left: thick looking mycelium, pretty white with condensation forming suspiciously directly above it.
In the glass that forms the "B", the glass is magnifying some weird discolouration that doesn't look healthy.

They look suspect, not completely fucked. I personally don't spawn anything that looks suspect whatsoever, as outlined in my OP.

It may be gtg, but my eye says  :justno:

I'll wager that this growth was slow.

I heard you there. This is your thread.

I have spent months on getting the cleanest pretty agar plates the same way you do with jars. But after isolating a few non fruiting cultures. I am back in the shake it and spawn it (toss if it turns green) camp.

For sure man, I'm just critical of the spawn, not the people or what they like to do with it. I'm happy to have you participate. That response was for the sake of the poster and the other two, I'm sure that you can handle your biz ; )

Yeah, so far I'm batting 1.000 with bacterial rye, 4/4 jars. Got an OK flush on one of my first two jars, but fruits had mutated caps.

Pretty confident in my agar and transfer work, think it's in my rye prep..gonna try soaking 4-8 hours max (instead of 12-18) and PC for min. 2 hours (instead of 90m) next time.
