Why doesn’t it make sense?
80% of the most vulnerable people age 65 and over have taken themselves out of the pool of people who can die of covid by getting vaccinated. Not surprisingly deaths are down about 80% since vaccinations started.
Herd immunity is not something that happens at a specific point. As more people get vaccinated, the virus has fewer people it can infect. At some point there just isn’t enough fuel for the virus and it dies out. We are not at that point. The level of death is perfectly in line with what you’d expect for the number of vaccinated.
The UK decided to prioritize getting as many people as possible with one dose over the two dose regime and it has paid the fuck off. 95% of the UK population over 50 has gotten at least one dose. Deaths are down 99% since January. They are now averaging 12 deaths a day compared to 1270 three months ago.
If everyone in the us got vaccinated the pandemic would be over in this country in two months. If you don’t get vaccinated you’re a total fucking asshole.

Im sure everyone thinks the same. We just don't think you're one of the dozen people that may have had it before the first report
You think that only a dozen people could have caught it outside of China before it was first reported as being outside of China?

I believe I caught it on a flight FROM Boston TO London.
Or maybe I didn't catch it at all and I haven't had it yet.
I think it's possible, rather than impossible, as some here are stating.

First confirmed case on America's east coast wasn't until almost March. And they were actively looking for cases after January and what they found in Washington state

This is always the big question, given that there's been many, many more orders of magnitudes of flus+colds+pneumonia than they have of COVID-19. The "'Rona Hipsters", those who had it before it was cool, need to help us take them more seriously, help us think that it wasn't just a typical respiratory illness.
I had a cold the first week of 2020 and I absolutely don't think it was COVID-19, even though I remember thinking it really sucked.

I know from frequentb fliers (I never boarded a plane) that if you fly long distance you are almost guaranteed to pick up a cold.

Good insight here.

We think it is highly unlikely, especially baring some differential diagnosis.
I thought your surmise was more likely when I mistakenly assumed your story was getting it on a flight from London, not a flight to London. Knowing a lot about probabilities and global air traffic hasn't made me sympathetic to your take.

Yeah-I'm not an anti vaxer or anything but I never get the flu shot and in general do not trust doctors/pharmaceuticals, but I got the vaccine because I felt it was the right thing to do for humanity.
So I guess fucking with my bodies immune system and getting injected with nano technology( which is just a conspiracy theory that I don't necessarily believe() is worth it even if to save just one life.

I'm mostly jokin with ya. Impossible? Nah. But apparently unlikely. I dunno, I've seen this story repeatedly, I know people who think they got it.. But they never say "And I got the antibody test to prove it." Over the last year I think we ALL thought we had caught it at some point. Does it really matter though? Unless a doctor tells them not to, everyone should get a vaccine.

Because it was nothing like any bad flu or cold that I ever had before (had flu at least 2x before, maybe more, countless colds, and unknown fevers also). Because the symptoms perfectly matched those that would later come to be widely disseminated to diagnose a COVID case. Because of the incredibly long recovery time compared to any other flu/cold type experience I've ever had. Because my lungs have not been the same since; like the illness left permanent damage to them.
I think it's hilarious that people could think that I stand by my belief because it is in someway 'hipster'. I also am entirely open to the fact it was not COVID. However I have not been especially careful to avoid it, so the fact I potentially have antibodies built up lines up too.
At the end of the day, I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything - I'm just saying that it seems beyond coincidental given my symptoms, the timing, and the after-effects, and I think it would be silly to rule it an absolute impossibility that I had it then based on what has been said above.

Mmmmm. I have a bad feeling that if there's gonna be a real nasty variant that pops up that it'll come out of India. I've lived in China and traveled a lot of India and the latter, for many reasons (to my mind at least), is likely to be the right kind of breeding ground for it.
I hope that I'm totally wrong and that my complete lack of knowledge about how virus variants occur means that I'm talking out of my ass, I really do.

I got my Pfizer shot #2 this past Thursday, so four days ago. I was back to normal 100% by Saturday with no side-effects. Now I feel wonderful! I really feel a weight off my chest. I am definitely less anxious now about catching COVID, and it is making everything just so much better.
